Not acting like the characteristic creepy internet nerd that feels the over powering urge to spaz out every time they come into contact with a female is not grounds for the revocation of a man card.
I dunno, it always made me mad when a woman would hop in the CC. It's slightly sad that we all fit into such a narrow bracket, but I suppose that's what's kept us socialising on these forums for such a long time. I'm sure that there are far more lurkers from other backgrounds and that there will be many more types of people joining us when NS reaches a more mainstream market. It should be fun! :)

It is possible that the forum goers with less flattering professions (to be fair, I work full-time as a car wash attendant to earn monies and program facebook apps on the side) are not adding themselves to the demographic, making us seem like a cabal of engineers, scientists and business people.

Like the "How often do you have sex?" type of questions, and when you compare it to the number of child births AND the number of birth control products bought it just doesn't add up?

lies and slander. =]
Engineers get ragged on for using stuff like teams to hide individual weaknesses or using first-order approximations that are "good enough", but at the end of the day I'd say we have some of the hardest jobs. I mean, we've got to deal with the real world and its cranky nature to try and screw with the stuff we make. Oh, and other people. So, let's face it. Until those mathematicians/physicians can solve for me precisely turbulence in water flow, I'm quite happy assuming certain things about my flow and using DEs to solve it all. Because by golly at the end of the day it works for 99.99% of the world. Just don't be a jerk and intentionally make incisions in my pipes.
I used to get to say we also get paid more than the scientists, but now CS majors have closed the gap (curse you Google!!!!). As a bonus, as a EE I also get to rag on my CS friends by telling them I do all this work to ensure their perfect binary world exists without errors, so quit complaining.
Self-reporting will always be skewed. Also, I'm guessing we have an older overall forum population due to 1) the age of NS and 2) we run a good forum that's not full of idiots (and any we find we block/ban). I'm sure the Civ4 forums are also quite older in age and have more respectable occupations due to the nature of the game. You can't have Halo-tards on the forums because they simply won't play the game.
Also, Depot is way too old to be playing video games. =]
Age: 17 (Male) Occupation: Student Other qualifications: Academic and self taught experience in various programming languages and digital art. Aspirations: A career in game design and enough income to live comfortably with the luxuries I've become accustomed to.
