I've been waiting for this for a lonnnng time! Gratz guys at UWE.
The only thing questionable to me is why do standard edition pre-orders get the Alpha now? I feel like I got ripped off a tiny bit, but I still dedicated my fees for supporting UWE and their thanks to NS1. I'm just a little bit confused. Could a dev fill us in on that?

I'm hopeful that they will be released in the next couple hours.. Either that, or 24 hours from now. The twitter said they were waiting for the installer to compile an hour ago, then I assume all they need to do is distribute that. How are they distributing it again?

Still says 23rd to me.
If they are still compiling, then they got a long way to go with uploading it, unless they got their own servers with ENOUGH bandwidth. Ima try to pull an all-nighter for this!
I think they'll just release the updater for download. Then we'll download everything else from that. Not sure thou, it's just a guess. It's 1:53 AM(24th of course), here in Brasil. I have classes in 6 hours xD, at 8AM.
luckily its just going 5pm here (24th).. hope to get it in the next few hours so i can have a go before bed calls.. Id say there will be couple of uploads to a few different mirrors with enough bandwidth, well im hoping so lol (
I'm hoping there will be a Map theory introduction from UWE in conjunction with the editor release. The concepts of power to sections isn't something I have a firm grasp on yet. Could some one compile the relevant links on NS2 level theory and paste them here? (Sorry, I'm not that much of a forum junkie so I haven't been paying much attention to all the threads other than the UWE announcements) I'd like to start dreaming up ideas for levels while they finish compiling Spark.
NS2 maps are going to work VERY differently from NS1 simply because you wont be tucking away RTs in weldable/tiny/meaningless/etc corners anymore. In a way I wonder if the new more prominent role RTs will play will be a downfall to level design but I reserve judgement until I see the system in action.
I'm by no stretch a mapper but you can bet I'll be playing with the editor just to see what things look like rendered with the editor (oooo, a box! And now... a box with a glowy light!). I'll definitely be trying my hand at mapping too but I don't expect anything too productive to come out of it since I don't have the experience.

I can't stand Hammer to be honest. Sandbox 2 Spoiled the ###### out of me.
I found hammer more easy for some reason because you can create geometry and such. I tried sandbox 2, but I was too impatient to learn it anything from it.

You have to setup hammer to use it. THEN you have to compile your maps. Sandbox 2 is a true sandbox and looks as it would look in-game. Compiling maps should be a thing of the past by now.

Well hammer is not a sandbox for sure, but I did hate the compile, but I learn to deal with it.
Haha, the thread has been up in about 3 hours and already has pass by the amount of post for the avrage thread :P

I woke up early, so lets see if they will release the editor anything this morning.
I'm hoping they release it soon, because I'm sure everyone here has either classes early tomorrow, others are impatient, I'm tired because I had 4 hours of sleep last night, ANNNNND they DID say, "Tonight". But something is telling me it will be the 24th, because their official site says 24th at the bottom for the tools. :/

I'm expected the release no earlier than 3 minutes before midnight at -9 gmt (Pacific time right?)
