A boring floor is a realistic floor, no one in their right mind would want a building to have all sorts of doodads on the floor for you to trip over. Such a floor would not pass any building code...
HOWEVER!
Gaming needs awesome floors! A few trims here and there and the floor will belong to this category <img src="http://members.home.nl/m.borgman/ns-forum/smileys/tongue.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" /> The rest is pretty cool though!
As you're all discussing the floor.. I just went for something simple as it is a build site and RTS does need clean simple floors. Hence why the ceiling and walls have all the doodads? Come on, think people, think about how to make it easier for your players.
Psyk0man you're right, why on Earth isn't it emitting a shadow?!? :<
Now I see what you mean. I toned down the lights near the power generator ( far left ), and turned them into my tampica blue. ( RGB Values - 153, 253, 255 ). I love this blue for some reason, IDK why!
I love the yellow! UncleRay, that's my fave shot of yours by far, I'd suggest rather than 1omni light on the bars, use 3 in a line which are lower range / intensity to give a similar light level with a better effect (or if you are using multiple lights spread them a bit more, it's rather centred in the middle of the bar light atm), have them not cast shadows and it won't be too expensive (and if you want shadows, + wide angle spot light ftw :) ).
Would post a new thread for this, but it's not really worth it. One of the guys making for textures for NS2 released a set of <strike>rejected (and also cleared for release) NS2 textures</strike> revamped versions of old NS textures. They're a nice change to the standard red/grey blue/grey that the NS2 textures have

You can have slight surface texture variation that might normally stop grenades from rolling around and allow people to get caught on edges, but if you clip it off it looks great and plays great for minimal extra effort!

Getting closer to satisfactory. Will need to change the right side a little bit more.
Back to work.
More or less going to be final for the first version.
that look like the old ns 1 style map :)

EDIT: Or maybe I need to get my eyes checked. Floor looks mostly fine now that I look closer.
I may hate ceilings, but skulks will hate it more! Muwahahahaha!

Another little something. Maybe that floor is slightly busier for peoples tastes too.
