Since Build 136 the editor wants to update itself with every start. It is up to date, and i tried reupdating and reinstalling (same as rebooting the computer). But the editor doesn't stop with the update-messages.
I'm not sure if you had this problem but Build 137 failed to update for me at first, which could be why it's prompting you. It asked for me to close the Spark Launch Pad before I updated so I MANUALLY closed it instead of just selecting "ok." This allowed me to successfully install it the next time I tried with no update message upon opening it up.
Edit: Black background for me still on RADEON X1950XT T_T

Build 137. Really strange lighting behavior. It looks like there's some sort of sign-error in the lighting math. When looking away from a light source, the light looks normal. When looking towards a light source, half of the area it should light won't be lit, and this is view angle dependent. It looks like if the reflection vector from the surface has a positive dot product with the light vector everything is fine, but if the dot product is negative the area won't be lit. I can't tell if it depends on the texture surface normal. The boundary isn't hard. there's a soft falloff to the straight line edge.
Yeah, I think that is because your light entity is within the face itself, at least I get the same thing and have done in all previous versions of the editor.
Builder options don't allow me to config still, even after loading the .xml
Pasting between sessions and editor/open level layers are.. a bit messed up? I'll give you an example,
Map 1: Prop_01 in layer 3
Copy this and paste it in to Map 2 and it automatically slots itself in to layer 3. It automatically takes on layer characteristics (viewable/unviewable). Not sure if this is as intended or if ultimately the design model will be to unlayer it?

none of my normals or spec are showing up on any of my materials. :(
getting this error. any fix? (btw this could be caused by me updating to the latest version witch i hadn't done before) IDirect3DDevice9::CreateTexture(623, 428, 1, D3DFMT_A2R10G10B10) failed (Invalid call) Direct3DDevice::Texture initialize failed- A2R10G10B10, xSize=623, ySize=428)
I can't get any of the tools or anything else to work.

All that it appears to be is that the preview windows are not showing anything. I can click all the buttons and even seem to be able to create faces and whatnot, i just cannot see any result. I cant view models in the Viewer either.
Don't know if this has been posted before (search didn't find it) but I cannot use period and comma in fields for values (like texture size etc). The keys work fin when reassigning the pivot for manipulation however they both are ignored when the cursor is in a text field. Copy-Paste the signs into the fields works (but is annoying)

I know it's a pain in the ass, but you can get them to work if you delete the individual blank images (%appdata%\Natural Selection 2\cache\) and open the editor again so it rebuilds those in particular.
The editors creates them blank when it's doing lots of them at once.

Thanks! I've got all the preview images displaying now, definitely not as much hassle as putting a prop in the map just to see which one it is.
I have preordered and I have been working with the editor to mess around on some level design. After about 6 hours of editing I begin to see some render issue of face textures and distance began to render black. I saved my test map and restarted thinking that it could be a ram issue but when I started a new project everything was black. I have checked the forums and there seems to be solutions like reinstall driver for my graphics cards or that my graphics cards are to old. I have a pair of GTX 260's and 8 gigs of ram so I do not believe that is the issue.
I can open my prior project that was having some render issues and then make a new map from there and it will work for a limited time before everything begins to have rendering issues again. Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

That happens pretty early for me with my crappy low mem video card. Add to that out of video memory errors, when i try to switch windows or tools. It kinda seems that the editor is trashing up the video memory and not clearing it completely after you close a level or the editor. Working in lit-mode, browsing all the models and textures and not hiding as much models as possible with layers all adds up to that error.
I have never had any errors with the editor, builder or viewer as it just seems to be a progressive memory leak somewhere. Is there somewhere that the render data caches that can be deleted so that a level could be re-rendered and possibly work? I have not messed around with level design in many years and NS1 was quite a bit of fun though I have not played in some time. I was looking to get my hands dirty with the editor so that once the game came out I could have some fun with making level as it is a good mix of work and play :)
I am running Vista 64 (I don't think that is the issue, though some might) to utilize my ram and have complete deleted the spark editor, defraged, cleared the cache and rebooted. Ran the installer to a secondary hard drive but the issue still persisted...
From the last update, all the techpoint entities have their pivot changed and their size too it seems. Damaged techpoint is still without a texture. (I intended to use it as an environment prop)

So I've made a few textures. Gave them a bump map and then a specular map. However, they produce these strange artifacts on them.
So yeah, the only way to get rid of the little black artifacts is to remove the spec map and norm map.
However, if I do that, textures become too bright.
Suggestions?

I just recently pre-ordered NS and i'm having a bit of a problem with Spark.

When i launch Spark editor, The viewports don't seem to respond. and neither does anything in the menu or any of the tools.
