I hope those framerate issues are sorted out, not to mention the static nature of some of the models.
eg. the skulk jaw looks fantastic, but feels like cardboard addons; hopefully they'll have enough time to implement the skulk flexing
its jaw, picking out meat in its teeth, etc animations from NS1.

I'm still waiting, patiently, for Lerk and Fade models + 1st person views.

Congrats UW and really good job.
I wish I had a million dollars so I can invest in this game :D
you guys DESTROY all expectations everytime u release something, now how about giving us those footage in HD?
and btw hope those who kept complaining about them not working on the game and instead just the tools u can see clearly that the game still lags wich is the same in the editor, so I think everytime they fix something in the editor they are allso improving the game.
it was nice to allso see gorge & skulk and bunch of buildings in movment, btw why didnt u kill the skulk is that not implemented yet?

It's great seeing the game in action, but- playing the critical fanboy- why are the first person sequences so choppy? Is the game currently unplayable or was the video recording set at a low frame rate? My first reaction was "oh no the skulk run animation is terrible" before I realised it's a frame rate issue. The 3rd person view of the marine entering the CC looks smooth as butter though

Lol, talk about misrepresented information:

1) Link goes to 2009, not 2010 awards. In fact I'm not sure they have 2010 down yet. :P
2) This is specifically the Players Choice awards, not the official awards but eh since:
3) Overgrowth won the official award, but if you look, you can see that NS2 is player's favourite and Official nominee, and vice versa for Overgrowth in 2nd place for players choice, which is awesome because:

4) Unknown Worlds and Wolfire are officially declared by the communities of both Best Friends Forever. :D

... and this is footage probably made a little while ago.

I'm really excited to get to play the alpha. :D

Looking very nice.

The quality of some of the level shots just isn't there, although one of them is very striking indeed.

Fantastic news! Was awesome to see some genuine in-game footage too.

I assume the concept of aiming is still in alpha? :P

I don't know about this. The footage seems quite clunky to me.
What bothered me was:

- Player models move like they got a stick up their ass.
- The animations aren't very fluid, like when the comm chair folded back up, it moved a little jittery and laggy, it needs to be way more fluid.
- Bad framerate (but i guess this is to blame on the footage being from the alpha version of the game)
- I don't like the animation of the gun swinging back and forth when sprinting. It looks VERY amateuristic. (and mimicked from other games like Battlefield, obviously)
- The health indicators on the bottom look very amateuristic as well. Adding some transparency would spice things up i think.
- Is bunnyhopping as a skulk even in the game? Remember, this is essential to playing aliens as they need to be able to reach the marine fast.
- The sound of the marine steps sound the same on every surface. It sounds as if they are walking on a metal surface with cotton slippers.

This game is obviously far from finished. Some of the buildings and models are still NS1. Even the hive sight is still NS1.
Please take your time to finish the game...I don't care how long it takes tbh...

I like how the comm chair closes in around the player. Looking good!

Remember, this is NS2. It's not NS1: REHASHED. Where did you see ns1 models at..? Just curious, I happened to miss those if they're there

Also: you teases. I can't wait to experience this game and all the changes as we go from alpha to full release... I feel like a drug addict with the way I check the twitter and update feeds...

1) It's not NS1, Skulks do not need to bhop now + Leap from 1st hive unlocked now as well. Seriously, read up first before you start spouting.

2) Animations are bad, because FPS is bad.

3) FPS is bad because optimization comes last AND because he was hastily doing the trick with a video capture device (WHICH ALWAYS SUCK (massive amounts of) CPU) AND most likely the editor tools to boot (it was 5 minutes between tasks at work to show SOMETHING for Moddb (to make it actually look like as if they are anywhere near Overgrowth's level of work with at least one video)).

I think he was referring to the parasite sprite.
