I want to see the people who said NS2 is vaporware, expression on their face... priceless aiit guys do as I do in wait for the engine test, crank out some lvls that you could try ingame ;)
A long time since the last concrete "release" date. But hopefully patience will be rewarded. Half-Life 2 (/the source engine) took over 5 years to be released and it paid off.

Hehe, I'll be finishing up some work on my map in the next 2 weeks that's for sure.

hey do you know ? we don't have purchased a 2009-2010 game for having an alpha release in 2184 !<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Are you saying ns2 is vaporware?
I was hoping for some details after 2 pretty quiet weeks gameplay wise, but naming some dates in schedule is a huge step forward in my opinion. At least I was starting to get tired of 'soon'.
it's great there you are making progress, and this is yet another step towards the actual game, but I really don't want my first ns2 experience to be a buggy engine test... hell, I will probably not even play with the alpha, mostly because I don't have the time to seriously bugtest... so yay for progress, but that's pretty much it :P

Your seeing it wrong. All the whiners are posting here. All the none Whiners aren't posting unless they actually have something substantial to say.
Hey this may be a bit of a noob question but can we download community maps and run around in them? Or will it just be that test map from all the vids. Or am I way off here.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->anyone that's downloaded the Spark Level Editor can see their creations in game, and aspiring mod makers can experiment with the included Lua code.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Thats really awesome. I like this kind of "open" development. I wish Dice would have done it to fix their slow frostbite engine.
Oh and just to tell you: The engine test is NOT AN ALPHA. Normally an Alpha is a prestate of the Beta, means it is PLAYABLE but has lots of bugs to get fixed. Other companies give they Alphas only to SOME people(to find the most anoying bugs) and a BETA later to test for example Multiplayer with a larger amount of players all over the world and to find some more bugs(but i think dice even hasnt listened to the beta players).
So when we get an alpha we should be able to load our rifles, sharp our claws and start to frag out the others ;).
This engine test is for being shure that the Alpha(and the later game itself) will run as fast as possible for most players. Gameplay and CO will come in Alpha.

I have a broad definition of whining, legitimate and neccesary bug reports are still annoying to me.
I would also be very surprised if everyone who gets access to the test spontaneously develops intelligent reporting skills.

And before anyone says how could he if it did not open up, it not like he can't find a developer email to let them know about it.
Still, I look forward to the Engine Test in 2 weeks. I wonder if they will have a nice easy way to see how many FPS we are getting and not have to eyeball it. I don't expect much more then a formless orb that can wander around the maps, but I want to know how well it is wandering around a map.

There's an editor bug thread* and it's a known bug already.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Really can't wait, going on a prop modelling drive for a medical themed level next month to keep me entertained.
I hope not, it never manages to pop up for me.
