there is a lua folder, a models folder and a ui folder in my mod folder.

This is my current path

"C:\Games\Natural Selection 2\NS2.exe /game C:\Games\Natural Selection 2\mod"

You need to put the NS2.exe path in quotation marks and the mod path in quotation marks, not the /game command.
