    The easiest method would probably be a zip file with instructions to unzip it in the main NS2 folder. Mappers would have to make sure that the folder structure in the zip file is correct so that it unzips to the right folders, but that's not hard to do.

    Really it would make the most sense for the serer op to specify the map download locations (probably on their own hosts) in a list if they want to run custom maps. This could be done via a maps.txt file on a per line basis. Then the server could dish out the map file location for the client to download the map and proceed to load. Would be a pretty simple temp solution until a more robust integrated approach is decided on.

    I think with the recent performance updates it's time we started getting a little more content now and then, especially maps or the ability to download custom ones in game?
