My guess is if they are adding visual enhancements like this then some serious performance improvements are in the next patch :D
If they do the blooms purely off the emissive part of the textures it will look really really good... If they do a bloom based on overall brightness i'm not so sure :/

Not that much, because I think it''s a simple post process effect, that actually take the screen image, and makes the white stand out a little. You can even do it in realtime while watching a video if you have a player that allows it.

The word "mega", makes me wonder just how big (file size, gameplay changes, etc.) this thing is going to be. About the only thing that might trump "mega", would be ginormous, gargantuan,or bloody-f*cking-huge.

What I am wondering is if occlusion culling optimisation will make it into this patch? Because the status is still written "started" on the progress page.

Ubisoft is really bad about abusing bloom to the extent that after about an hour of playing you get a headache, I am in hopes this won't be the case with UWE.

exactly. bloom will not really affect you. its just one additional small step before you get your final picture to see and should not significantly decrease framerates.

I so wanna see the new fade blink. I think they struck the right balance ...it still will be as WOW when fighting a fade ...but it should be easier to BE the fade

No way we'll get a patch today. I suspect best case will be next Tuesday evening. As kingmob said, the initial patch will be interesting and cool, but probably a massive bug fest, followed by one or more quick hotfix patches.

Oh boy , the flood of whine is going to be immense after this patch hype...
You can bet many will be expecting this patch to magically fixe everything, and automatically include everyone specific suggestion / fave feature. I'll be happy if it allows for a 16+ players without too much hitching and some hit reg... I can wait for the rest ( 32 man servers, full features ).
