Ah yes, I see Wheee's post now. I like this idea, because it uniquely has the greatest impact on remote marines, rather than proximate.

I'm confused. UWE keeps saying they want asymmetry, but first nano-construct (= nutrient mist) and now pre-evolved lifeforms (= weapon drops). Have they run out of ideas?

I find these forums quite a bit better, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality, than that Diablo3-forum you linked to. What's wrong with Invision?
I never really liked these forums. It's not very handy and laks on different features like hot topics, recent developler threads, important announcements (f.e. Menumod needs to be updated or EXO reveal and a (much much much much) better search function.
One of the best forumstyles I know has: <a href="http://forum.americasarmy.com/" target="_blank">http://forum.americasarmy.com/</a> But I think, it's theyr own development.
Take a look at <a href="http://fluxbb.org/" target="_blank">FluxBB</a>, it's light weight and super fast, the fastest forum software I have ever encountered. Might not have all the features you want though, not sure what your requirements are. Anyway, here is a real world example of FluxBB in use: <a href="https://bbs.archlinux.org/" target="_blank">https://bbs.archlinux.org/</a>

Please keep this in mind when choosing new forum software. On my monitor (2560 x 1440 / 16:9) the Blizzard Diablo 3 forum only takes up half the screen with large empty areas on the left and right. Many other forums are also like this and do not dynamically scale to different aspect ratios.
One of my favorite forum software is the one <a href="http://www.xim3.com/community/index.php?PHPSESSID=ts0k54gm85iv8d50f9f2eppam7;wwwRedirect" target="_blank">XIM3</a> is using. I have no idea which software package it is, but I'm sure it would be easy enough to find out by asking the XIM3 dev or the moderator of the forum. It looks great, shows you which posts are new since your last visit, has a great search function, and even allows you to build an ignore list so individuals can ignore postings from other members (trolls, caustic attitudes, etc). Obviously there are more positive points, but those are the things that stand out to me on a day-to-day basis that separates it from a lot of other forums I visit.
