Wow they really broke the back-end of the game. Hadn't played in a while so fired up the game:
Patcher downloads an update. Installs and tries to grab another one
np I'm patient, if it downloads each out-dated one sequentially I can wait
Patcher gets stuck at second patch, won't move past "contacting server"
np I'll redownload the whole thing. 2GB
Log-in to the game, game goes fullscreen and presents another login screen. This one asks for username, not e-mail unlike the first log-in. Mouse cursor invisible
np there's a button to have the username mailed to you
Find the e-mail, go to enter my username. The mouse cursor is still invisible
np the tab and space keys works for moving/selecting
Enter username and password, game tells me my account doesn't have access to this game
np there's a button to enter my CD key, I'll go to the support webpage, get my beta key and re-enter it
ERROR: This key is already in use
np the game clearly doesn't want me to play, I'll just quit and do something else
The "Are you sure you wish to quit?" box loses support for tab and space, feeble attempt to guess where my mouse cursor is fails
np Alt+F4 saves all
Alt+F4 disabled

Ok turns out I had a different account for their other game, Global Agenda >_< But found out the invisible mouse cursor thing is due to the entire graphics engine being broken. Game won't load up. :p

Sounds like you are having the same problems that some get. Sucks, new weapons are fun :P
Might be relevant to those having issues starting the game (see step 5):
The first one IS more important. I go slow and I shoot every enemy, yet my team loses all the time. I can't ski very well and the tank is slow as ######. Guess I'll just have to live with it. :(
Yea the repair tool worked for me a couple days ago (well kind of- it just made me re-download the whole game again). Fun game, a bit disgruntled unlocks aren't just alternatives but buffs as well, but still fun!

How can you not Ski fast? I can get 200kmph easy as a Heavy lol.
I can usually reach about 150 as a medium if I try, and I have reached 200+ occasionally. I'm just not very good at skiing. I keep overshooting the downward slopes or hit a tiny bump on the first third that sends me flying into freefall instead of a downward slide, so I can't translate vertical speed to horizontal speed very well.
Oh well. More tank whoring I guess. At least I was accused of hacking yesterday, that's always a nice ego boost.

I liked how everyone whined about the technician's new thumper until it got nerfed - with four percent less damage. HAH! Like I even care. I still love how I can actually put up a useful defense now.

I'm better with the SMG than the Thumper. Sucks they fixed the "getting stuck inside" glitch. I liked going from one end of the map then into space in a heartbeat.

Yep, the tech got about thirty times more fun to play, though choosing that class is still like slapping a big "troll me" sign on your forehead. Seriously those tiny turrets take an age to repair, and they've got about 800 HP. They should repair in a second or two.
Tell me about it. Going technician in T:A is like going sniper or spy in TF2 - if your team loses, it's YOUR FAULT and YOUR FAULT ALONE, even if you're the highest scoring player on the server. Apparently, technicians can somehow negatively impact the rest of their team's performance - who would have thought?
Another fun one is when someone complained that technicians "never repair anything." Maybe if I didn't have my hands full being one of only two guys defending the generator against a horde of enemies I could find the time to go outside and repair your stupid sensor or whatever it is you want me to do, but as it is, ###### you. Come down and defend the generator and we can talk.
Another problem the technician faces is different priorities than the rest of the team. No other class is as heavily impacted by the loss of the generator as the technician is. You can have a powerful flag defense set up, ready to murder any flag capper who so much as glances at your flag, and if a single infiltrator gets to your generator (and god forbid it's a juggernaut or a brute), it's all completely useless. So priority NUMERO UNO is that generator, and count yourself lucky if you get any help defending it, or retaking it if it's lost. You simply can't put up any defenses anywhere if the generator isn't secure first.
Am I doing something wrong with sniping? I have the phase rifle but I feel like the only people I can kill somewhat quickly are pathfinders and infiltrators (2 shots, sometimes 3). I thought the phase rifle was supposed to be an upgrade but firing drains your energy, the damage it does is based off your energy, and sometimes I feel like I would be better off just using the default.
Has anyone seen a sniper that's actually game changing/decent? I feel like for such a high skill requirement the reward is so little.
The fractals were recently nerfed. They do (a little) less damage now, but more importantly they don't do damage to armored targets now. That includes the generator. So while fractals are still very effective area denial, a brute can't just do a suicide rush into the generator room, pop some fractals, and then go down guns blazing and trust that his fractals will take down the generator no matter what.
Obviously, some brute players are butthurt about it, claiming that the brute is useless now. To some extent they're right - with a few commendable exceptions, people played the class as a suicidal generator-rusher, and that playstyle no longer exists. Brute players are mostly split into two camps now: The ones that want the fractal nerf undone and the ones that want... something else. For the most part it seems like the community is on the side of the latter, and that the former won't get their wish.
As far as sniping goes: The advantage of the phase rifle is that you can do decent damage with it unscoped and that you can zoom in and immediately fire a shot for full damage. If you are usually scoped in looking for targets, then the standard rifle will suit you better, as you will have roughly the same rate of fire and damage over time, but with all your energy in reserve.
The justification for the low damage compared to how much health people have is simply that movement is relatively predictable in this game, and there's a lot of good sniper perches where they can shoot over very long distances.
I have seen some good, game-changing sentinels. The biggest impact is when they weaken/kill flag cappers before or after they pick up the flag. A pathfinder who zips past the flag stand at 250 only to fall dead out of the air a moment later because a sentinel nailed him is a sight to behold. On offense they are good for harassing the enemy flag defenders and destroying all their deployables. And if there's an enemy juggernaut lobbing mortar shells at your base, your team will be grateful if you suppress him. But sentinel does seem to have a high learning curve, and most sentinels don't seem to accomplish much. I have played the class a bit myself and performed abysmally - I can do fine aim and I can do quick aim, but I have trouble doing both simultaneously, and that's what this class requires. That, and situational awareness. A sentinel often has a large pool of targets, and needs to prioritise them.
I only go Technician on Arxnoveria. Just because it is easy to put up a Motion Sensor/Light Turret defense around the Generator. The Technician repair gun does damage to structures but it is soo low you'd be better off using the Thumper or SMG.
Eh I never used Fractals on structures, I saved them for hallways and herding kills :P Brute is still fun but I wish they had another Primary Weapon. Something new, like an Auto Cannon or BFG hehe.
I cannot play the Sentinel regardless of main weapon. I get more kills with the SMG secondary than the rifles heh. Only good I feel I do with it is Drop Jammers for Infiltrators.

Yah the only good thing about it is the fact that it stops turrets from acquiring targets and shooting.
The irony of the phase rifle is that if you need to fire it on the move with snap shots, you undoubtedly need your energy to be moving like that, while the camper BTX-based sniper has no need for his energy, in my eyes making the whole thing quite pointless.
That's probably the intended purpose. Find target, zoom in, deliver damage immediately. But in practice there doesn't seem to be much point to it. Perhaps it could find a niche for snipers who like to be far out in the field for long periods of time if they removed the ammo from it and made it fire purely from energy? But even that is niche as hell. Especially because if you're landing any decent amount of kills you should have the credits to just drop a resupply station for yourself by the time you run out of ammo.

I'm still playing this. I recently unlocked the infiltrator, I don't really understand how to play it. If the enemy doesn't repair their generator you're in for a pretty boring round.
I've mostly been playing pathfinder and doombringer. The heavy crossbow on generator defence is incredible. Any enclosed space is dominated by it, and with clever mine placement you can rack up a tremendous number of kills. When defending the flag I always go for the chaingun, and I place a shield such that it extends over the flagstand.
Incidently, what happened to that terrible lava map, and the map with the two tower bases and a big crater in the middle?
Yah I am kinda bummed about Temple Ruins, it was my favorite map due to it being like Tribes 2 maps.
I personally only really play Pathfinder and Juggernaut. Pathfinder to do 5-10 minute games and Juggernaut for credits for vehicle rapage. Granted they booshed over the Shrike, as only wings can kill people plus explosives do double damage to them now...

As an infiltrator you can always do stealth flag runs if the enemy is ignoring their generator. It's not like most of them even need the generator.
