What about supporting it with a peer-based sharing system a la bittorrent? It has its own, obvious, issues, of course. Would definitely need to make the feature transparent and obvious to the player, with an option for players to disable sharing.

Bittorrent comes with a heap of issues, foremost the upload-usage which most people don't have a lot of and will absolutely kill their connection ingame. Just seems like an unnecessary gimmick to me (I'm obviously one of those folks who would disable it right off the bat).
It's great to hear this should hopefully be <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyN-OJFbC8Y#t=2m50s" target="_blank">coming in build 190</a>, thanks Max!
So what's going on, we're nearing the end of February now and there's still no sign of this coming any time soon, was it forgotten, priority changed or what?
Looking around the forums it feels like im the only one interesting in playing new maps and mods now and then, this would go a long way to help with that, looking back it sounded like this would arrive with the gorilla update but many updates on and nothing, which is a shame because there's some interesting mods being worked on.
