<div class="IPBDescription">just a thought...</div>Just wondering if this would be a good idea. It would make the gorge a little better. I dunno just a thought. If you really wanted to make it intresting. Gorge Bellyslide=one hit kill what? Again just throwing out ideas.

Btw: Will marines get damaged by the impact if I leap on to them as a skulk?
(Personally I think a belly slide is ridiculous).
Leave here Heretic scum!
What! Might as well introduce the Fade butt slide than!
Because Onos and Marines would look ridiculous, if they are going to Belly Slide then why not make them sprint?
Forced animations that lock your controls are the worst thing ever to come to video games. See the sandman stunball in TF2 which made enemies stand immobile for a split second on the shortest range and it was still enough to get killed almost instantly (before the patches).
While this is true, nothing says you are locked into the animation.
If I was knocked over/back by a Gorge(theoretically, in real life) I would be spraying that SOB full of lead while getting up, just so he can't turn around and knock me over again.
For a more convenient knock down, maybe just flip the camera upwards for 1/8th of a second and then back down, at the same time lower the camera height to "crawl" height and give a slowed version of the marine control back while he is getting up. He can still move and shoot, but are moving slower since he's basically crouching/trying to crouch. Sprint would be disabled for the "stand back up" animation but everything else would still be there, all though a bit slower.
Gorge bellyslide would need a cooldown for this to be feasible, since a group of Gorges could severely slow down a marine squad without the cooldown.
All in all, I like the idea of a gorge knockdown, as long as the marine counterpart doesn't feel he can't do anything while knocked down.
Taking away some features such as sprint I would be ok with, but the basics of an FPS such as movement and shooting would still have to be there(but as said above, at a slower pace for the movement).
marine rifle butt should instant kill an onos lolz!!!

I think this is smart. It makes an animation for it easier for sure. They key like you said is to make sure it doesn't totally wreck the marines to the point they'd be helpless to a gorge rush. It would be like you said, as the camera moves back he can do the same things but delayed. The vision could be a little blurry or something. Sort of like COD if you get flash-banged, your not completely done for but the other person has an advantage. Not saying it should be a grenade or anything just comparing it to that. lol
Belly slide seems to do what it's supposed to do well right now.
This could be useful for knocking a path through the marines, doesn't actually slow the marines down, and does nothing to prevent them from shooting.
Problem: I don't know how ns2's animation blending works, if it has separate top and lower body animations (like source engine, eg left 4 dead 2), so it might be difficult to only really affect the legs in terms of stumbling animation, maybe tilt the upper body a bit, but otherwise not affect aiming at all.
How about the gorge just spit out webs to semi-stun them?
(I still think belly slide should be replaced with sprint).

Imagine a Gorge sprinting....
It doesn't look very fast does it? In fact it doesn't look much different than their current movement animation.. Gorge sprinting is a silly idea. Belly slide is cool because they slide into walls and get screwed and it teaches them not to get too cocky. If you're careful and don't hit any walls, you're rewarded with not losing your lifeform.
But I’ll leave you all with this one thought:
What do a gorge rush and a group of emperor penguins have in common?

A bow tie would complement their outfit?
