It doesn't look very fast does it? In fact it doesn't look much different than their current movement animation.. Gorge sprinting is a silly idea. Belly slide is cool because they slide into walls and get screwed and it teaches them not to get too cocky. If you're careful and don't hit any walls, you're rewarded with not losing your lifeform.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Or press Q to interrupt bellyslide. No skill needed. Edit: you can press Q now to interrupt bellyslide.

Some sort of semi stun would be great!

the q to stop belly slide could be useful...

Bellyslide SHOULD be erratic and a bit hard to control. Gorges are not nimble ballerinas, as much as they would love to be. It is fine as is.

Make it use adrenaline. Problem solved.

    whats about some panic ability?
If the gorge use it, he lost his whole energy (like lerk and spores) but in this time he runs double fast and he squee.

How is that diffrent to the bellyslide?
The bellyslide is for short ranges, if the gorge is on fire, the bellyslide range is to short to move out the dangerous zone...
The panic would help the gorge going very fast outside a dangerous areas and he has the controll of his movement and everybody of his team knows he was in danger (squee).

maybe but would it regenerate health?

so what's better? gorge belly slide knock back or panic?

Why not make the Gorge belly-slide situational? It's a fun idea that I like, but it sounds like it's giving a lot of power to a support class.

However, if the gorge could spread spit (or what have you) around an area to increase his belly slide speed through there, and Marines were to walk onto that slippery spit without looking out for a Gorge, and were unable to react to a still relatively-slowly moving gorge sliding towards them, then I'd say they might deserve a little knockdown.

You could even re-use the old infection code; Gorges would drop temporary spit by heal-spraying the ground.

Bonus effect: Gorges would be able to invest time to get a temporary mobility buff for areas they frequent, increasing their depth as a class. If it becomes too powerful, you can always tweak the spit lifetime or limit spit to only working on infestation.

Edit: better name than spit: "Slime".

so sort of an ambush? gorge sprays the ground and the that slows down the marines... then gorge can belly slide into them?

I think letting it also slow down marines might be a bit annoying/OP. On the other hand, it might actually be perfectly balanced and make a great addition to the game. Either way, it's worth beta testing in my opinion.

The original idea was for Slime to create temporary "gorge highways" where their belly slide would move them must faster than normal. Marines walking on it wouldn't experience anything unusual unless a Gorge slid into them, at which point the slipperyness of the slime would allow the Gorge to knock them over. That's all subject to improvement though.

that's a good idea. perhaps infestation could play this role though? also we should see if we can get shimmel to implement this idea into his prototype mod.

I'd like infestation to play that role (since it makes sense for Gorges to get buffs on their home turf), but I'm worried it might make Gorges a bit OP. Suddenly, every infested hallway becomes a potential site for a Gorge ambush.

The balance behind Gorge slime would be that a Gorge would need to hang around a specific area for it to work and invest time, and that Marines would know there was a Gorge around thinking of knocking them down and be able to take appropriate defensive precautions.

Gorge is already a fairly powerful class as the team Healer and Engineer; I think that giving him a notable combat presence runs the risk of dangerously overdeveloping him relative to the other evolutions.

I suppose that's true about OP. But i feel like it also helps him get around. He's much slower than all the other aliens.

Yes.. thanks to the PT mod it's even more evident how slow even belly-slide is, it's only double speed for about half a second and quickly drops back down to less than walking speed if you bother to do more than tap it, not to mention the linear path, it's a pretty weak movement modifier right now.

Edit: Granted he's faster than he was in NS1 I guess.. so I'm not sure if it's right or not to even complain about this. But belly-slide does just feel.. bad, right now, and yes I'm aware they're going to alter it later.

your right he is faster than in ns1 but like you said its weak now. should he belly slide faster or have knockdown?

Why not give him both, but only on Gorge Slime (nudge nudge)?

Here is an old Idea i had some months ago:

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->And a last and not so Serious idea. If Gorge uses Corpulence he gets Fatter cause he eats more of that green brown stuff. So it produces more gas. But the Gorge knows that farting around ain't very nice and for such a great lover like him a absoloute nogo!
But when he does belly slide he can't control it anymore and has to fart.
So to the idea: When a Gorge with Corpulence does a belly slide he should flatulence a little very short lasting combo of Umbra/Spores (just for 1 sec or so). I also have some ideas for the Sound :-D lol<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Still thinking that it would be a good Defensive upgrade.

Edit: Copy Pasted alot of missspelling....omg

Well... you could make belly-slide use adrenaline and smear sticky goo on the floor that persists maybe 10 seconds or so and slows down marine runspeed to half while on it.

thats a good idea too, should this be fore the gorge to escape or defend his hydras though?
  • hatehate Join Date: 2011-07-19 Member: 111206Members
If we're gonna make bellyslide do damage we should just throw in a fart powered rocket mode too. Just imagine the infestation patch a gorgefart would leave behind.

lol. This topic has gotten so many ideas like that lol. But more seriously how about a knock back from bellyslide into a gorge.
  • FloodinatorFloodinator [HBZ] Member Join Date: 2005-02-22 Member: 42087Members, Reinforced - Shadow
Nah because the onos will knock back players so the gorge won't get it.
Also 3 gorges and 2 skulks and even a squade of 7 rines have no chance.
