live cast as i work on ns2
hey guys,

i wanted to try live casting my desktop as i make sounds for ns2, it might be interesting for some of u guys to see what im doing as im doing it.

if there is demand then i can be casting most days as i work.

u can watch it live or later , the videos stay up for a week after i make them

pls let me know what u think of this setup, and how i could improve it.

when i cast it will be between 2pm - 10pm Sydney Australia time (GMT +10) --- ill try to do at least one cast every day but i cant cast everything i work on for NDA and some things just are not practical to cast.

anyway heres the link

Simon lives on a little island devoid of civilization somewhere in the Pacific ocean, in a little wooden hut. Not much else to do there other than make sounds so I'm told.

I have heard same and actually he only uses exotic fruits and (parts of) his body to make all the sounds of the game as the legend is told.

I heard simon comes from a paralell universe where tsa and kharaa really exist... so simon is not really making sounds, only has recordings from this other reality. (and trying too fool us with showing us those fancy sound tools via livestreams)

This is true. I can see his wooden hut from mine. He's one of the only other people who live here.

We have to holler at each other to make sure we don't both use the internet at the same time - there's only enough bandwidth for one.

Simon is a hack! He just sets his audio recorder on the rock outside his hut and sleeps on his hammock all day. While the Bunyips, Yowies, Drop Bears, and the occasional puma do all the work for him.

    True story.

I like watching these videos. They're informative and have a relaxed feel to them.

I was a little disappointed when you didn't incorporate Enter Sandman into the observatory deploy sound though.

I really don't like the way you have done the rifle sound. If you fire an individual round the sound plays as if you fired a burst of 3. It would be much better to have an individual sound than a loop IMO. Look at the L4D uzi for example.

I was wondering why stuff like alien chuckle, heal, this error sound etc - are not positional, so whenever someone makes that sound its always the same volume and you dont really know from whitch direction its coming no matter how far away. (also its like if one alien does it, its plays for everyone or something like that)

Hard to descripe, but im pretty sure you know what sounds i mean...

Spectacular job! How much dedication into those details and the final product is impeccable. I enjoyed seeing your work!

yeh ur right, it sounds like it fires 3, this is not caused by a looping sound per se, the loop sound is simply not being told to stop fast enough after u let go of fire. the animation is bugged in a similar way too. all this will be sorted out eventualy.
