Few more pics showing off what I've been up to. Obviously still WIP, but this should give ya all an idea of the direction I've been going. No shots of central access between reactor and cargo, far from complete.
I dig your sense for scale, seems a bit roomier than the official maps which I appreciate. Great work avoiding the box-room-effect, lots of nice shapes in the geometry. I think your lighting is good, but I think that across the board it could be darkened a bit, but that is merely my preference.
My one suggestion would be to cover the sides of the stairs with some geometry. They look a bit wonky.

Cool stuff. I think I can see from these shots more of the need to find a distinct lighting theme. Try to come up with something using 2-3 colors exclusively, and I think shots like these will pop more.

In game looks darker, I don't know why screens are coming out a bit lighter.
@fpone... I'm using primarily all yellow and blue. The original had odd accenting that I'm trying to match and not make look wierd with the greens, darker blues and reds.

One thing that might be going on is your yellows and blues are too close to white (255 255 255) and showing more like white. I honestly like your shots, but you might want to play around with using a richer, more de-saturated color like 150, 50, 15 or 50, 75, 150 (these colors appear in NS2_Summit)
Impressive scale and some nice ideas. Looking forward to seeing a bit more polish there. Agreed with the lighting. Also a lack of visible spotlights (downlights etc) being used against walls and floors, they will add some depth to your lighting.
Looking good. The thing that bugs me the most from the screenshots though are the atmospherics, everything seems excessively foggy, you should tone down those a bit, IMO. The lighting, as said, is relatively plain, no interesting shadows or light setups in general, you know the deal, but I suppose that's part of it being a WIP.
It actually is starting to look like the original Tanith, looking good though I have to agree that the lighting is a little bland, but other than that it's shaping up well, good job.

I think the lighting issues are cause I have high contrast settings on my monitor. I just tested the map on a different computer and I'd have to agree, a little bland, not what I'm intending.

Shouldn't take terribly long to rework the lighting, you at least have the look and style of tanith down.

NS2 needs more tanith. Mind publishing this on steamworks? Instructions are here: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=118717

I would love to see how it plays. The gameplay changes have likely made it a lot better than last time I saw it in action. I haven't done much work in the last month, lots of real life stuff goin on but hope to have an updated version out soon with waste and central access done. I hate the little tedious stuff.
All these remade maps REALLY REALLY need more faithful textures. So much of the look and style of tanith is from the lk_thread, flr_diamond, wall_black*, nos_grooved and a half-dozen other textures
