I think one issue here is people are trying to balance Onos in a game without HA. Once HA goes in, this is just all going to happen again.
The only real issue with the 1 hive Onos is the building destroying it has. The fact that two Onos basically shuts down a base in literally seconds is really hard to stop even with a real alert comm. Having this ability at only 1 hive is pretty much the unbalancing factor here.
The gore, knockdown and other abilities are fine. 1 vs 1, or even 2, an Onos should always win without question. They are very expensive alien tanks basically. Once you get into the 1v3 and 1v4 range, then usually he'll take out 2, and start running from the other 2, and if there's no gorge, he will lose the foot race.
