Ye'd best start believin' in musical discussion threads... it's become one!

Did you mean this one by David John? Definitely more instrumental and ambient, better than the current Generic Shooter Music #17, but loads worse than the original NS1 theme.

Ok, so I agree with AdHD that that music is much better than the current one. I like it.

I will probably start a separate thread later on since you feel this one has gotten off track.

In terms of priorities, its not that big of a deal. The new one is a solid piece of music for this game.

Yep this. I quite like the new music and the old music, for different reasons each.

I feel marines were overly represented in the NS1 menu music. The current menu music is maybe a little guilty of the same, but the tribal drum-line does work to even it out a little.

Either way, I doubt the menu music is cheap or easy to produce, and the current incarnation is certainly good, though it may not appeal to everyone's taste. Not in dire need of changing I would say.

Nope thats the OLD OLD one if I am not mistaken. There was a different one than that that I liked way way way more.

It's on a lot of the youtube videos and the dev Q&A videos use a quick second from it.

I really hope they put back ambient music like this in NS2.

Download Natural Selection > explore mod folders - take the ns_ambient1-5 files and play them in Windows media player while you play the game, and turn of NS2's music.

That's what I've been doing as an alternative until they put ambience in gameplay, and it makes it a hell of a lot more interesting

Also does anybody have an MP3 of the beginning of this?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPWXayCresg

The second theme for NS2 (I think it's the second)

I liked that theme quite a bit the first time I heard it but I can't find it anywhere except for the intros to UWE videos

This is now the audio for their company logo. I have only been playing in 2012 and past the "Gorilla" update, but the only audio I have ever heard in NS2 is the current menu music, which I enjoy. I've also watched their preview videos with the Unknown Worlds logo and come to associate the music you highlight as their company logo music.

I didn't even notice they changed the music so many times. So I will refrain from posting my opinion as it would be like a blind person arguing colors.

Do anyone remember in which patch they changed the first track into the second one, and which patch we got the current one?

I actually made another video, with the second track, it is 3 min and 47 sec long. Never manged to upload it to YouTube though, not actually sure if UWE and the writer is OK with it and such.

Did I mention that the old menu LOOKED 100 times better as well? Why are we stuck with this boring view of a random uninteresting point in a map....

Old menu was epic with animations and cute little macs running around. Now its boring... and not to mention the music is annoying now and nowhere near as profound as the menu music before it.
