Everyone, please post your benchmarks for NS2. However, in order to keep these benchmarks clear and concise, I ask that you use FRAPS benchmarking for 20 minutes, during one round of NS2. The hope, is that this information will be of benefit to UWE, in order to better optimize the game, and give us an even greater gaming experience with NS2.

Please follow these guidelines while capturing your benchmark:
- Run FRAPS Benchmark for 20 Minutes (1200 Seconds)
- DO NOT benchmark while in the readyroom. Wait until you have joined a team, and the round has started.
- DO NOT benchmark loading screens.
- EITHER benchmark on NS2_SUMMIT or NS2_DESCENT (This will help keep the benchmarks somewhat consistent.)
- ONLY benchmark a single round. DO NOT benchmark multiple rounds which return you to the Readyroom or display the Loading screen.
- ONLY benchmark while running the game FULLSCREEN.
- EITHER benchmark on "High" Visual Detail Settings and ENABLE everything (Bloom, Atmospherics, etc.) or DISABLE everything pretty and benchmark on the lowest possible settings (No Ambient Occlusion, AA, etc.)

Don't you mean an Intel Core i5 2500k? There isn't an i7 2500k, is there?
I've also updated the first thread. Thanks for adding some important stats, Karnaj.

Cody
Some maps are also more intensive than others - I would suggest doing the test on a single map (ie., summit).
Don't get me wrong, I really support this idea.

I don't always get 100 FPS in the readyroom, and I have a pretty good comp. I usually get around 90, though. However, you are correct, loading screens should NOT be included in the benchmark. Also, it would probably be a good idea to benchmark the game on one particular map, or at least to specify which map your benchmark was taken on.
Thanks for the input. :)
Cheers,
Cody
A benchmark is a benchmark. It is never perfect, and it never tells you the whole story. So, of course, that isn't the purpose of this benchmark. If everyone is going into spectator mode, then everyone's benchmarks will reflect that occurrence. This kind of benchmark will serve a purpose, by showing us the general experiences of many different users.
If you wanted to nitpick even further, you could say that the benchmark should only be done as one particular alien, or alien lifeform, or a marine with only one particular weapon. The view models on each of these would change your FPS, but that's the point. Everything is factored in, and an average FPS is calculated.
Cheers,
Cody

The first dip was a lag spike. The second dip was the game ending, and then going up to 100 in the ready room.
I used to have a 6950, but I got the exact same performance.
Here is some I did, always on the same server (HBZ), same ping conditions at different time during the beta.
Best performance seems to be at end of march, but I have only 7 minutes of the last build.

We already know the game runs terribly, the only useful feedback will be specific and targeted so that it can be used to focus optimisation efforts.
It provides information about exactly how good or bad the game runs on certain system builds and may show up problems with specific hardware.
AMD / Intel, ATI / Nvidia etc.
Thats very useful, as UWE can't test the game on each and every hardware configuration there is.
It also provides information to new players or potential customers, as in what kind of performance they can expect with their hardware.
This thread should be webbed.
Edit: Vsync should be added to the required information.
This benchmark was done during two rounds.

Well, that's very good to know. I had no idea that UWE had access to this kind of info already. In that case, this thread still *might* be useful to the community, new players, etc.
Thanks for bringing this up, though! Awesome!

It would have been more useful if people with more average computers posted; but for these purposes just imagine all those lines half as high as they are. i5/i7 aren't the majority (yet). Yes, I'm jelly.

both recordings lasted 20 minutes, played 8v8 (most of the time) on summit
note: i usually uncheck all boxes in graphical settings, i noticed it makes quite a difference for me. as requested, they were all activated for this test though.
biggest fps drops: lerk gas and shotgun hit-feedback up close (e.g. when shooting a hive)
edit: results with disabled boxes: difference of ~7.5 fps (+30%) which is quite noticable when playing.

Both on the same server with ~16 players. Edit: The server seemed to have the 32 tickrate bug, but performance on other servers doesn't seem to be any better.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get any 20min rounds, so here are two around 10-12mins. The first round is with all settings maxed, the second round with all settings on low. I died more often in the first round and I wasn't near the hive as much, so I have higher fps in max settings. Both rounds are on marine side since they have more UI stuff and thus most likely lower general fps (though the hive is usually a major fps hog, so aliens could have the disadvantage there).
