The knife does more damage, why would you possibly use the rifle butt?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So you dont have to switch guns.

    I love it!!

If you are in the right place, as the skulk flies towards you in the air, you butt it down towards the grounds, preferably against a small lip in the floor geometry, then stand over it and rifle butt it to death. I dislike the fact my skill takes 4 attacks to kill it, but hey, you can't have everything.

I can't hit a skulk with a rifle bullet, but I can nail them buggers everytime with rifle butt :) DO NOT TOUCH MY BUTT, at least until the buggy physics or whatever that causes the skulk to be so hard to hit with rifle bullets gets sorted....

Nothing wrong with the rifle butt attack, its weak and the range sucks, and the stun only works if you're in the air when you get butt stroked. I've been stunned just once so far, but I still managed to leap away and finish the marine off.

People should stop whining about it, just like the -20% skulk bite range reduction.

    Isn't it always?

I'd love to see Rifle butt knock both the marine and the alien backward.

I'd love to see rifle butt knocking itself into the trash.

But worry not, ns2c coming next patch. Forget ns2.

Congratulations, sir. You have won this thread.

Anyway, even if you don't take into account the imbalance that the stun brings to combat, doesn't it seem silly to anyone else for a marine to be trying to chase a skulk circling/weaving or whatever it's doing on the floor trying to rifle butt it? Unless the skulk had some kind of a "latching-on" ability (which I'm not saying is a good idea; it's not). That would seem to be the only reason really to use the butt of the rifle. It makes me think of someone bending over trying to catch a chicken that's running away.

I loved the marine vs skulk combat in NS1, especially in the early game. Arguably the most fun part of playing. I thought stock marines and skulks were pretty well balanced there (a master marine would have an advantage over a master skulk simply beca, why does that dynamic need to be complicated with tacky abilities like this one?

Lastly, there should be no expectation that marines never die. It should be a struggle for both sides. It's already definitely a huge struggle for skulks and most aliens in general. There shouldn't be marines walking around with K/D ratios of 17:0. Balance please and thank you.

It's a truism that it's never fun to take away a player's control of their character, since all it really does is reduce the amount of time they get to play. Ditch the stun, up the damage, hitbox and knockback.
