    Kenichi, point is, I read all posts, but I'm starting to grow tired that the only thing people comment on is three things.

    Carapace, HMG's and LMG's, and of course bragging, which I must admit I also did, because people just refuse to listen to simple arguments.

    Discuss the other topics I brought up, by now everyone already know how good/bad HMG's, LMG's and carapace is.

    So... what do you people think about the idea for split resources for aliens? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    hey Tomten, where are you or DW located? I'd like to see if we could test our strategys against one another and see which works better, I know that strategy isn't 100 percent everything and you need some skill, but I'd like to think if whatever strategy it is you find yourself using would be able to beat even the best Alien strategy, to help show this imbalance of Marine's being able to tech too fast as opposed to Aliens getting a second hive

    Anyway, by all means, I'm sure we can like find a server where both of us ping relatively good, we got 3 canadians in our clan and all our people are mainly east coast, I'm sure there is a server somewhere where we can both ping relatively good, and/or similiar, and see what will work and what won't

    However I do know this, Marine's can tech pretty fast, but they also have to be able to hold down RT's, 2-3, to be able to have the money to tech up fast enough

    Relatively speaking, what needs to be known, is if the Marine's can just _not_ rush the Aliens, cap 2-3 nozzles, and just wait it out, using their forces to simply keep a firm hold on the nozzles while they tech, since anyone can vouch that Marine for Marine against Skulk for Skulk the marines will shoot them all down before they get close enough, so just hold em back while the money rolls in, 2 and 2 and leave one unguarded that you can run off too, preferably 3 semi close together ones, if you even cap that many

    However let's not forget that 1.04 is causing it that the basic set up of 2 IP's, an Armory, and either Obs Tower or Arms Lab, will leave you with 7 - 0 RP's, maybe this will delay the ability to tech, which is really if they lose the Rush the only answer they have, mainly going for JP's, since if you stay airborn you can't get bit, and a single HMG with back up from LMG's flying around can bring down a hive in the time it takes for the HMG to fire off both his clips into the hive

    And then..... the problem will come back to the Lerk/Fade combo, and how devastating it is, even more so since the GL itself got dumbed down to this slow rate of fire, slow reload, and 4 shot capacity, Lerk's can suck in a good 2-3 nades and then die, meaning all they gotta do is umbra it up and then fly away

    Back to the point, feel free to stop by the channel Kenichi posted and we'll try to arrange a scrim to test each of our own strats aganist the other, your HMG's vs Our little fun plans, it'd be a learning experience if the tech rush for HMG is truely so powerful, since I think we tried it once and it proved very useless, but maybe we were doing it wrong

    DW is located in Finland, and my clan NG.SE is located in Sweden.

    We usually rush in with HMG's when the second hive starts building, before that we go LMG, we secure three or so resources nozzles, depend a little on how the opposing team plays, sometimes we rush in with LMG and kills the hive. Depend alot on how we want to play, we have pretty flexible tactics, we don't depend on a single tactic to win.

    DW is more "everything or nothing" kind of guys, they depend alot on their aim, they got some guys who almost never miss, or that's atleast how we experienced it when we played VS them, they were just insane when they got their HMG's.

    If you want to fight us I'm sure we can set something up, but i'm not going anywhere near gamesnet, we are on Quakenet in channel #NG.SE and DW can be found in #division.wiking

    We got a server in England, and one in Sweden (down atm) Think the server in England would give quite decent ping for both teams. We would probably get around 50-70 lower though.

    Gamesnet is the serious suck, net splits every 5 minutes and pales in comparison of all the other IRC networks, I think some peopel would prefer dalnet over gamesnet

    Anyway, as far as Alien REsource Split, there was an option in beta testing that if you hit your Use key on a hive, you could recycle a single RP for each click of your Use key back into the Alien Resource Pool

    Flayra I guess figured it wouldn't make a big appearance and pubs and only be seen to use in clanplay, so it was taken out.

    Resources are alright at the moment for Aliens, yes you don't see Lerks, but that's with good reason, cause if they manage to lock down 2 hives instead of teching, the Lerk spike is an awesome weapon combined with dancing Skulks to take down Turrets and Factories

    Well, it would be really fun to play a couple of PCWs with american clans. I have not seen much from them to be honest (not so odd though since we have a sea and a bunch of laggy servers between us <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->) still it would be fun, maybe arrange so we can play 1 game on a european server and one on a american. Sounds like a fair suggestion.

    I, a clanner myself, albeit of a far less skilled clan than NG.SE, agree with Tomten on almost all points. I especially like the proposed carapace system and although I'm not sure Tomten's proposal is the best, I do believe something has to be done with the Kharaa resource model. Thankfully, it has already been decided that something will be done.

    The problem NS is facing right now is that we have two types of games: clan wars and publics. In clan wars you have two sides who work as a team, know what they're doing and do it well. In publics you have a few skilled players on each side and a bunch of less skilled players. Both these types of games need to be balanced.

    One way of balancing them could be further separating Tournament mode from Public mode, having servers for skilled people, in Tournament mode, and those for the lesser skilled, in Public mode.

    Another way would be to balance the game for one of the game types, Tournament, and hope the public play improves.

    NS needs to decide which way to swing.

    Anyway as I understand it dw is the #1 europe clan. Further I've also been told dw is scrimming syn next friday <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Btw are we playing 1.03 or 1.04(whatever letter we're on by then)?

    I assume ur talking 1.03 here not the 1.04 betas. Soo....#1 is generally true, #2 I suppose is kind of true but doesn't even matter since if by the time you've dropped like 3 hmgs you haven't won you're in trouble. #3 becomes an issue in 1.04 because jps can tech so fast, but I don't agree with ur solutions.

    btw, you might like www.shambler.net it has a lot of stuff like this.
