    Well, there's nothing bad about it per-se, but for mapping ease it might be easier to use one brush for each room.

    Larger brushes don't increase compile time. Whether or not they affect r_speeds is relative, but generally they shouldn't affect them at all.

    Using one brush for two rooms will reduce your plane count by one however.

    Actually, Moleculor, depending on the way the brush "replaces" the wall in the other room, it could save more than one plane.  It could even save all 6, if the situation was setup that way.

    Is there a site that explains exactly how the HL engine works as far as reading planes and everything? also is there a guide that explains how maps are compiled and the way planes and clipnodes and EVERYTHING is compiled? this stuff sounds interesting as hell (says a mathematics major who thinks the best thing in the world is solving a 3rd oder non-linear differential equation WITHOUT using Laplace transforms).
