Having Won.net Connection Issues?

<div class="IPBDescription">Necro has your answer!</div> Necro (of #naturalselection IRC fame) provided us with an updated woncomm.lst file which will fix your connectivity issues to NS (and other HL mods). The issues appear to stem from DNS changes that are still propogating.

To fix yourself up:

1. Download this <a href='http://www.natural-selection.org/downloads/woncomm.zip' target='_blank'>this updated woncomm.lst file</a>.
2. Rename your woncomm.lst in your /Half-life/valve directory (or cstrike/valve directory) to woncomm.bak.
3. Extract the woncomm.lst from teh zip file and put it where your old woncomm file was that you just backed up.
4. Destroy the alien menace!

    Alternatly, just unzip woncom.lst into the Half-Life/Valve folder and say yes when winzip asks you if the overwrite is ok.

    Yeah, seems to happen to me today, on the 27th. Can't seem to auth with WON. Maybe they are having problems. When I open up console and type connect XXX it just sits there saying its connecting to XXX
    and it never says I was authorized by WON, it just crashes.
    At first I reinstalled everything, but it still wont work...

    Even though its in the topic, not many people seem to realise its a WON.NET problem. No amount of reinstalling is going to get won.net working. When you play online, you connect to won.net and it registers that your WONID is in use, and what mod your playing etc. It has gone down, and cant do this and so halflife cant connect you. I dont quite know what the fix does, but it works for me (and alot of other people). If it doesnt work for you, stop complaining at the people who are at least <i>trying</i> to fix the problem.

    It seems the WON fix should be removed now, they have sorted out their problems.
