So, I go to play NS and it says my executable is out of date (a big lie) and I can't get WON verification. Could this be causing the problem?

Upon further examination, it appears that the problem is a rather annoying (although mostly benign) virus I have been co-habitating with, since it infected all my windows executables and I don't have the resources available to reinstall windows. Looks like no Half-Life for me for a few weeks <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
