I think I'm going to have to be one of the few, and say I am wary of this being implemented. I certainly do not like the idea that marines cannot kill themselves while in the stomach (this was mentioned by a previous poster, not by Flayra). This would certainly increase the use of F4, just to be able to get out of the stomach, and jump back into the marine team.
I'm also surprised this was brough forward as an idea. I certainly haven't had a lot of time to get to know Flayra's style, but it seems that it doesn't fit the mold of the game. There is little to no blood in the game. Dead bodies don't explode anymore. When marines die, they don't scream... they simply fall over. But now we have Onos' eating humans. Seems to be bending the self implied rules a bit.
Since changes are being made to the gameplay, I'm sure things will balance out better. However, I certainly would hate being the marines on a losing game, especially if the aliens are feeling a little sadistic, and simply continually devour/digest the marines, without actually attacking them. There's one feeling worse than losing: the feeling of being hopeless, doomed to failure before even beginning.

Since Onos are nearly invincible, swallowed marines will know that their chance of being rescued is next to nil and they'll probably just type "kill" in the console.
Also, why wouldn't the marine be able to fire his weapon while inside the beast?

that would be my only concern, but I guess that would be up to the server admins to watch for, and punish players that do it.
God 14 pages. I don't have the time to read it all. But, i'll only use this ability if I face a HA/HMG marine when near death. Why? Because primal scream + gore is so much more effective.
What's with the needing to take out marines suiciding or f4ing? If I understand this attack correctly, an Onos can only devour one person at a time. If that person suicides or f4s they are no longer in the Onos's stomach. Therefore the Onos is able to eat someone else much faster than if they'd waited to be digested. So, if someone gets eaten suiciding would be the absolute worst thing to do because it means the Onos could just eat another teammate, much faster than if the marine had suicided!
It's like running to the respawn to get health when you're infected - it may be counter-intuitive but it makes sense if you think about it.
It's been said WAY too many times to count that the "kill" command can be and will be disabled when a marine is being eaten. Also, it has been said that the Onos can eat Heavy Armored marines, but they will be slowed down dramatically. Also, it has also been said that you are in no condition to be able to fire your weapon or use your knife while inside an Onos' belly, since you will be in the dark, crushed, asphyxiating (that's read suffocating: deprived of oxygen), and burning from the stomach acid dissolving your very skin. Ever heard of a rabbit escaping from a snake after being swallowed whole? Don't think so. Not even the Monty Python rabbit could escape the insides of a snake. Besides, the marine would be getting free hits in on the onos.
Also, the whole F4 problem. I think this could be solved by removing the command all together. If you really feel like being a ****, and going back to the start up room, just make them hit retry, as mentioned earlier. Also, take away paralyze. It stinks. How the hell are you suppose to use it against jet packers who are flying at the top of the room in rafters, who are raining down fiery death with the grenade gun, or laying down a hail of heavy machine gun bullets? I say, the dreadlocks be used to grab the marine and pull it into its mouth, since they lack opposable thumbs. Great idea! I can't wait to go eat some marines!

I have several fat northern ****ards ready to record an obligatory belch, to denote the completion of digestion.
Perhaps it might be possible for marines to regain weapons afterwards as well, if they don't mind getting their hands dirty and perhaps taking some damage from noxious fumes. Or maybe the Onos should just leave a Kharaa equivalent to a landmine...(think momentary sv_friction changes).
I'm surprised that this hasn't been said before, but: no fecal matter shall be excreted from Onos! That's disgusting, though funny. That stuff doesn't belong in this game. It's silly. They would never add that in. Stop suggesting it, even in jest. It's been said too much already.
LOL! thats so god damn awesome. I don't care if flayra was high or thinking hard. All that matter is i eat some marines. ^^ u always hear skulks eating marines.. lol onos.. MAN THAT IS SOOO AWESOME LOL! im laffing my **** off thinging about it..
The marine should slowly move through the Onos like...
First 10 seconds of being swallowed, the marine can use his gun to damage the Onos From the middle period the marine should be able to use his knife and see if he can kill the Onos Last few seconds the Marine cannot use anything and is slowly burned to death in the acids of the Onos
I guess so.... maybe something like that would be cool...
1st of all the Onos running straight towards a SMART HA marine means certain death. Why? IF he's armed with either a shotgun or HMG, he will be smart and jump to avoid charge damage. He will continually shoot and damage the Onos MORE then the Onos can do to him.
2nd Devour adds in a new element of play for the Onos. Harrasment. He can continually run around, grab a marine then run off. This provides the Aliens with a new way to attack the Marine's resources.
3rd, Devour allows Alien players to brag about their "l337" eating skillz...
4th Devour makes Marine players WORK together
5th Devour will also make Marines move in FORMATION
Ex: Onos charges at marines for the HA marines, light armor marines stand and sacrafice themselves to be eaten by the Onos. HA marines finish off the Onos.
The Devour will force marines to also not go ALL out HA. A mix of regular marines, combined with HA marines makes sure that you will keep those HA marines protected.
Here is my counter-system
Skulk = L Marine Fade > L Marine HA Marine > Skulk and Fade Onos > HA Marine L Marine > Onos
Also you will notice that if Devour replaces PS, it will be a complete even game in late game. Bile bombs can be negated through offensive HA marines pushing foward, and L marines can be foward gaurds to protect the HA marines.
So how *do* people know when an onos is done devouring somebody? Here's my vote...
Sound effect..... massive *BELLLLLLCH*.
