All those things - kill. The ATI exe is the little ATI menu applet you probably see on your system tray. If you make that registry backup, you can always drop this stuff back in.

Your startup folders will actually be in a couple places:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup < this is the one for all users on a PC
C:\Documents and Settings\%your user account%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup < this is yours, where the value in percents is the account you use to logon to the PC.

Alrighty.. I went to those locations and found the start up folders.. yet only two things where in there, the viao support thingy and one other thing.. nothing else. Both where backed up and deleted.

You will also see them in the: 'Start | Programs | Startup' folder on your start menu. But you're good at thispoint - go ahead and try things out.

Dont readed the whole thread so sorry if this has been already suggested.

Run "MSCONFIG", this program lets you disable/enable ALL startup things and drivers.

Download AD-AWARE or such software, it will get you rid of the adware, spyware and such crap.

Hi, I have this exact same problem with my ns and everyother mod i play (also with steam).
but I have nothing in my startup folder to delete so I still have the problem.

It didnt do this untill a few days ago, I use to play normally without lag. I havn't done anything else that i know of that would cause this and it's getting really annoying.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I just can't stand it anymore.

Well i finally got this fixed. I tried reinstalling natural selection but that didn't work, then I reinstalled Half-Life itself and that seems to fix it although I don't know why

Hiya guys. I just played some nice NS game in Mineshaft (where we, marines, won ) on Steam. I noticed that when i play on Steam (on 'normal' won ns it doesnt happens) i get choke, about 20 of it sometimes . Also on the netgraph i saw that the bottom (blue) line gets really high, to red values and such and its inconsistent etc. I was playing a bit with HL network console commands and i was able by increasing the 'rate' (not cl_rate) from default 7500 to >10000 (13K actually) to make the blueyish line nicely smooth (well not smooth, looks like saw for sawing steel, before it looked like heavily used medieval saw for sawing big trees). But the choke still remained. The game seemed to be smooth enuff (at about 50ms of ping) but still, that choke buggers me. Should i worry about it?

*edit*
yea, and my connection is ADSl which is 192/64 kbps on paper, 168/112 kbps in real (2nd number is not so accurate, its about 14KB/s, yea i know it differs frum that 64kbps they say it has but it really has this ~112).
