<div class="IPBDescription">A rumour?</div> I know all about the electrified turret factories, but I keep hearing people talking about electrified resource towers. Is this what I suspect it is: a rumour/typeing mistake? Could someone confirm/deny this?
In the thread where the confusion started, none of the playtesters actually said anything at all about an electrified res tower. Someone misread, I think, and asked wth this talk about electrified rts was, ending up in other ppl reading THAT and asking themselves etc.

There was a screenshot posted by a playtester (although he wasn't supposed to) of a RT with the HL glow much like the electrified TF. Dunno whether to take it as the truth though.

i think i read in the 1.1 TF topic saying something about TFs getting the ability to upgrade and in the process damaging any hostiles near it. i.e TF build NEAR RT to protect it ALONE, no need for turrets. i think thats it.
Idunno... might have been edited out cause of the playtesters NDA (they're not supposed to post screenies). I'm not really sure if I saw it right. I think I was up late so I might have just gotten the screenshots jumbled up but I think that's what I saw.

Note that in this screenshot, the TF is not only glowing teal, but it's shooting a BOLT OF LIGHTNING at the nearby Onos.

Actually, now that you mention it, electrified RTs would be an EXCELLENT idea. As I said in the S&I forums in some post, the reason marines lose so many pub games is that they have a much harder time holding down res towers than the kharaa do, due to the fact that the kharaa can easily tell whenever any of them are under attack.
But then again, with the reworked resource model the problem might resolve itself.

ummm okay, so what? you can use ocs to defend resource chambers right? well you can put turrets up to defend resource towers for marines as well. why should the marine resource tower be self-sufficient while the alien resource chamber needs a chamber to protect it?
