    Hounddawg, I said "Besides VAC should be implimented soon, and I think it will be a better solution. " What I was saying is that I think it WILL be a better solution, not that it IS a better solution.

    Why I think it will be a better solution is due to the global banning of cheaters. To me this will also help curb cheating, because they will have to think that they may be getting a global ban if it updates and they don't know it. We all know that cheaters have a large list of WON IDs, but Valve also has taken steps in the past to get rid of those WON IDs.

    I also know that a plethora of cheats exist for VAC, while only a few exist for CD, but to me 100 working wall hacks or 10 do not make a difference. Cheaters are going to just search out the cheats that work. It becomes a game of who updates faster.

    I'm sure UA could code HLGuard/CD to utilise a 'global ban database' of some sort if they felt the inclination.

    I used to like CD, and on cs i played on only cd servers so i could have at least some reassurence that few hacked. But one dark day, cd just decided that it wouldn't work. I tried re-installing it, didn't work. If I run cd, the fact that i'm running it isn't detected by the server. I think it stopped working when i reinstalled half-life on my D drive, instead of C, where windows is, so my comp could run smoother. Does cd require hl to be on the C drive?

    This reminds me of a HLG Anti-Cheat.. : "NO MORE SPEEDHACKING EVER" lol..

    Alrighty, I like C-D used it for ages, installed it on my ns server. But I don't depend on it to solve all my cheat problems. Some people do depend on it and think just because they have it installed.. they won't have any skill downloaders on their server.

    Same goes for HLG, it's not the best; far from it, sometimes it is wrong and alot of the time every nub download skill user won't get caught with their cheats by HLG. I find its the one that downloaded the aimbot for color models off of kazaa.. are the only ones that get caught! *(lol)* But then again at a lan I seen HLG fail to catch it.

    And in closing the best way to stop cheats is admins that been around and are not quick to judge.

    Please don't make statements like these. It only proves you have no idea what you are talking about. C-D has things called "false positives", which they are more than happy to work out with you on their forums. However, if someone were to be globally banned due to one of these few false-positives, their entire project would be deemed crap and noone would ever use it again. Cheating Death does not DETECT cheats. It BLOCKS them. Please read the united admins site and learn how the program works.

    Warpaq - you have no idea what you are talking about, so please - go prove your ignorance elsewhere.

    Brutus - good points as always. I await the results of when VAC actually begins working. Let me know, cause I will definitely use it if it ever gets better than cheating-death.

    The people who create the WON IDS can use yours while you arn't playing. So if they took steps to remove these then several people would be out of a $30 game. Ever gotten the CD Key In use error ?

    And you said there is few cheats for CD where in reality UA challenges anyone with a working CD cheat to show them. They are sure that there are no working cheats with exception to antirecoil configs. Im sure during long periods of time without updates where the challenege hasn't been changed for 2 weeks to a month a few cheats will arise but they only last till the next CD Release.

    Its a far better Idea than VAC and works better, but hopefully VAC will suceed. I like CD but that is dependent on client and server admin both running it where few actually do. If VAC could become perfect and have all servers protected it would be much better.

    Duck.. Please try *reading* than trying to flame. Kthx, I said I would like to see this. It reminds me of anti-speedhacks or anti-aimbot made for HLG. Those things were silly and somehow I got caught by them, even though I wasn't hacking. Luckly it was on my own server and I didn't mess with the cvar settings.

    WON ID generators work very rarely. I have never gotten a CD key in use error. My understanding of WON, and I could be wrong, is that your WON ID is paired to your CD Key after the first time you play online. This means that CD keys do not directly match up with a cd key. i.e., CD key numbers do not have a strict matching. A does not always = 1, B does not always = 2, etc. This is why WON has always been a good system. You can't just enter in a CD key and get a WON ID. The people that have troubles with the CD key in use error is because their CD key somehow got out.

    Your post as I read it (before your explanation) said that "pushing your mouse up is going to be blocked". That sounded quite asinine, as it has nothing to do with the method that cheating-death will be using to block no-recoil hacks. Cheating-Death is nothing like HLGuard, as I am sure you are aware (from your <b>edited</b> post.

    There is no way to attach WONid to cd-key AFAIK. Sierre/Valve or whomever runs the serial number department, has made their keys out of a huge number of possible permutations. A small percentage of all these permutations are registered and printed out as cd keys. HAx0rs have broken the algorithm that creates the cd-keys. But they have no access to the database of valid keys, so the chance of generating one that is matching a valid key is small. U can brute force it I am sure...

    Regarding C-D 2.8 and natural selection. There's something fishy going on with it and Marine Ressource Towers. It removes marines or skulks from sight when they are behind the ressource towers! Why?

    That sounds quite possible, even likely. CD shouldn't remove players behind a res tower, as they're still visible. Make a feedback post at unitedadmins mentioning this. Perhaps they can tweak the player-hiding code so that res towers don't trigger it.

    Technically, this should actually happen when one is hiding behind an infantry portal as well. Cheating-Death cannot ensure that you can't see through walls, so what it does is makes sure that if you can see through walls, you cannot see anyone on the other side of them. I'm not sure it is possible for them to make an exception for natural-selection only, but verbose, you are right - a post on the UA forums is a good start.

    I think we cant completely rely on anti-cheat software, of course not since they have their flaws at some areas. The weapon against cheaters is to have nice amount of vice-admins with kick/ban rights on your server, who have the expirience to detect lamers & people who use cheats, well thats my opinion.

    CD is an ingenious concept. All it does is just occupy the space that a cheat could hook onto and doesnt allow them to attach themselves to HL. It checks with the CD Server to ensure that it is authentic. Albeit it may not stop all cheat but what does?? I like CD and I have no problem installing it and keeping it updated. It even updates automatically. Also its just over 200 kbs so why not just install it and get it over with. Theres no reason not to.

    Pfft, it's not Duck's fault - the guy directly attacked his character, and Duck just defended what is so obviously true.

    In any case, CD is happy, and does a good job. CD + HLG works slightly better, if only a tadbit.

    What I would like to see more of is cheats that record a database of who uses them, then posts it on a webserver. While you can get a lot of false positives, it would do a mean job of owning cheaters.

    does cheating death seem to lag servers?
    when a server installs cd i usually get up to a 40ms increase in latency.
    it also seems to increase the chance of having problems connecting to the server. (like the connection messages in console just "hang")

    Finally got CD working with my own server (It worked by my NSAdmin was being a bad bad program), thanks to hullu I figured out some stupid sloppy code I had and got it fixed.

    I run CD now in required mode, Lots of complaints about "LAG" "OMG IT LAGS!!!!" (See: <a href='http://forums.voogru.com/showthread.php?threadid=2933)' target='_blank'>http://forums.voogru.com/showthread.php?threadid=2933)</a> etc. Still gonna run it and I dont see it lagging.
