It's what makes the game more fun, like marine bunnyhopping used to do. It might sound stupid but I think the game will be way less fun if all those semi-exploits are removed...
Moving swiftly back to On-Topic, i have updated the changelog with two new changes that to my knowledge havent been posted in the forum, and/or havent been discussed or answered in detail.
OMarines now have 3rd-person reload animations
OThe Onos has a Gore, Charge, Stomp, and Devour animation. Note that Devour consists of 3 parts: weapon ready, the attack itself, and weapon position while digesting a marine.

I am well aware of the new GL model but seeing as it was mentioned a long time ago and hasnt been listed yet, i am not including it in, in-case things have changed.
I reckon what would be better than health spamming is a building which, once built, will slowly heal marines for free when they are either inside it or using it like an armoury - sort of like a hospital so marines who survive an attack can heal up for the next one, but they can't really heal up in the middle of a battle.

i figure webs are an important counter to jetpacks. marines can get jp early on but usually it's around the time aliens get 2nd hive ("put webs up quick!"). with webs a 3rd hive ability, what do aliens have to counter jetpacks?
I belive thats primarily the lerk's job and with spores on 1st hive i dont think they willbe able to stand a chance btw i agree with the web being 3rd hive its such a powerfull weapon when you can consider it can be used on the whole map and not just defencivly, its deffiantly the strongest gorge attack/defence all in one. -Impy
It seems to me that they are making it easier for Marines to win now. I 've been on several servers where marines domniate the map and the guys on the alien team were no pushover's. I beleive that web needs to remain a hive 2 ability due to the jetpackers. I also didn't see anything about cost of jetpacks plus the cost to research them.

heh from reading these last few threads makes me beleive you guys arent reading what we've said about jetpacks; they are not your jetpacks of old, they do fly a little bit, but they are easily countered with skulk, lerks, gorge, fades, onos, pretty much anything gets a jper nowadays <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
dont fret, the gorge having webs 3rd hive is just a more of a incentive to get 3 hives imo,means by that time if you havent won, you can pretty much say you have when the gorges have webs.
Despite spreading rumors about a speedy release of the new version, I believe that it will take a lot of time until major balance issues are being sorted out. Besides, the maps must be finished and tested as well and a lot of small chnages in numbers will be immanent. So I guess we'll have to wait for at least a month...
When I first played Starfleet Command I was a Klingon commander. When you fired a disruptor it meant "Damage" done to the other ship. I was happy with that. After all Starfleet pigs had some pretty hefty resources themselves. Then came out Starfleet Command 2, the missles fired off a ship had new sounds and they were amazingly prettier graphics, but someone lowered the capacity for a Klingon disruptors ability to damage with each hit. They turned the Klingons into "sissy warriors" when they took ability away from them. Before you change too much on your next version, listen carefully to all input both professionals who are building, those who beta tested and the public outcry.
I hear the Marines cry "Lower the powers of the Aliens" I heare the Aliens cry "lower the powers of the Marines". Carefully balance the game, right now version 1.04 is not bad. It can be made unpopular by too many wrong choices and right now it has an addictive following to this cult MOD. Since I am a newbie of sorts as of 5/27/2003, I have played for only a week now but I see the potential for this MOD to be game of the century if trends and design walk is careful.
Now what about LAN games, currently If I am not mistaken when you try to lan, you get HL game. Is a LAN capacity going to be made for this game?

One thing I saw that makes my Jump for joy is the fact that: They fixed the Skulk walking on walls and the ceiling! YEAH That use to make me feel like I was in some bad written B movie!
"There was this one time when I was in a room and the Skulk was on the other side of the rooms window, he was just floating there, no animations @ all. I would move to the left, he would float to the left, I move right, he hovers to the right. Just looked bad!"
I'm so happy that is fixed, I always thought they could have made it look a bit more like the wall walking in AvP2.
