Ea Games Don't Work On My System.

I don't know why...
Ok, I have MOH:AA and BF1942. Both games are by EA. After I got bored of them and unistalled them. My friend recently rented MOH:FL for GCN, and while he played that I was like "Hey, let me play MOH:AA" after the installation I ran it and that Scan came up and everything was normal, it ran like usual but after that, my computer turned the color of my Scheme (It was Green), and it just locked up, I couldn't do anything. Then my friend let me borrow American McGee's Alice, also by EA. Same BS happened. I requested help 5 Months ago, but I got nothing. So I'm going to ask the Gamer's if they've gotten this problem and got by it. Help? Thanks in Advance.

EA = They care about one thing only, money.

EA, while not the best company ever, still has some great games. BF1942, for example.

That's all fine and dandy, peachy clean. But it doesn't help me. The EA games I have, I like, and now I can't play them.

BF1942 was crappy, buggy, and unplayable when it came out, and when I buy a game I don't want to buy it then wait for a patch to play it. So as it stands BF1942 was a crappy game when it came out so it's a crappy game.

Not only that, but it doesn't even run proficiently on my new computer, the game physics are awful and I can't even explain my distaste for movement and feel when I'm moving as soldier.

Although, I'm sorry that you're having problems and it doesn't work, but to tell you the truth, almost everyone is having problems with alot of their products.

Consider yourself Un-lucky

despite the majority opinion here, EA does put out some good games. The un-believers don't like EA cuz they don't EXACTLy what they want and...I'd like to see them do better

also, it might be you have a new .dll somehwere that doesn't match.

i got da same problem, but i found a wierd fix.

start>run>dxdiag

then check what version it is. the latest is direct X is 9 i think. If its not, update it. mine was originally 8, but then when my games were fux0rd, checked dxdiag and found it was at 4!! i updated it to 9 and all my games work.

Also, do u have OpenGL? most good EA games require that

...Ah thats it. P0lar reminded me.
Open up Dxdiag then go to sound and switch the hardware acceleration to basic and then exit and try it.
DX9 may fix it aswell.....but this should save you the download.

One of the reasons I don't like EA simply because I think the company is just a bunch of jerks who want money and more money. They release stuff early because they don't care about what people care about their product, just as long as they buy it.

MOHAA was fun for a while, good thing I borrowed it, but there's not much left after you beat it. The only part that I actually really enjoyed was the little cutscene part on D-Day.

Not to mention, how many "The Sims" expansions have been released ? And how much do they cost ?
Like $40, for what ? You're character can be a whor.e now! *twirls finger in the air*

Ok, I did that. Now none of my HL Games will run... it says I need Direct X 6 or Higher.

Does MoH:AA run?
And what version of DX have you got?

I downloaded 9 a long time ago, now I HL won't run because it says I don't have Direct X 6 or Higher. *Is downloading Direct X 9*.

Hmm....I'm 90% sure it's a sound card problem. Switch the sound acceleration back to what it was on before and open up control panel.
In there got to multimedia(I think) then check if the prefered playback device is your soundcard.

Ok, I've tweaked out the DxDiag a bit and tryed MOH:AA and Alice again, THEY WORKED! YAY! Too bad the GAME WAS RUNNING AT A ****ING 1 FPS! I have NO clue why, but the game's unbarebly slow, Menus, Videos, etc. I think it's my CD Drive, it's been making sounds lately and I'm wondering if that's a bad thing. ^_^ How much would a new, "GOOD" CD Drive be? Also, are they easy to install?

1. NS doesn't cost anything

3. EA pumps out so many crappy games it's not even funny, they just throw crap at the wall and whatever sticks they patch and give attention to.

This is very, very, very true. I can hardly express how true this is.

Liku, I'm guessing you have tried going to the FAQ's on MOH:AA, you might want to try their forums, if any, I'm sure you could get a good answer.

1: Granted
2: Version 1.0 was the "complete" first game, just like BF1942 1.0 was the "complete" first game.
3: Actually, they own developers. If there's a problem with a game, blame the developer. NOT the publisher. EA publishes games, then adjusts funding accordingly due to success rates.

EA does suck, C&C Generals has the most pathetic AI ever. Unless you the player interveen each battle ends exactly the same way then the frame rate was choppy on my PC which met double the required amounts. So I tried to take it back to the shop I bought it from and he didnt beleive that my PC was that good. Last time I shoped there.

Then there is Black & White. Everyone I knew near enough got it and 90% of them all had PC trouble afterwards.

BF1942 again wont run smoothly on my PC again almost twice the recomended.

I bought SimCity 4 when it came out, and on the back it promised multiplayer mode. That patch still isnt out almost 4/5 months later.

EA reaches the bottom of my favourite publisher/dev list and Sierra comes out top, constint patching, excellent tech support, lack of bugs that make game unplayable.

Yes but EA will only give funding to what projects they want to give funding to, and they arent given a huge amount of time.

I forgot to check the specs you listed, Liku, but do you by any chance have a Soundblaster Live! soundcard? IIRC, SBLive was the main cause of massive FPS hits and crashes with BF1942, and it might be that it would be the cause of other problems as well. To be completely honest, I'd like to whack Creative a couple of times for the lack of decent driver support for Live products.
• EmseeEmsee Join Date: 2003-05-23 Member: 16644Members, Constellation
Scinet's right. Alot of EA games, especially ones that use the Quake 3 engine...e.g. MoH:AA and Alice, have real issuses with some soundcards. Make sure you've checked that your installed soundcard is the same one as your prefered playback device in Audio & multimedia in controlpanel. Then try seeing if theres any new drivers available for your Gfx card and sound card. You'll obviously want to try tweaking your graphics settings too. Turn the shadows off and put most details on medium. If that improves it work your way up or down untill you happy. Also go to the sound options and choose medium or low quality sound and disable any 3d type effects.

I dont' know what soundcard I have, but would it say if I look inside my PC on the card?
• LikuLiku I, am the Somberlain. Join Date: 2003-01-10 Member: 12128Members
Ok... now I have a HUGE problem. Alice and MOH:AA worked, but at all times I had a FPS of at least 5 if not less any time in the game, Menu's, intro movies, actual gameplay. I'm not joking. None of my HL MODs are working, and HL SP has the same FPS problem.
