Go to dxdiag again and check through it make sure there are no problems. Then make sure that the sound acceleration is set on standard. Then go to control panel and go to system. From there you'll want to go to device manager and check the sound card under sound, video and game controllers.
Also what OS are you using?

And another thing.....You'll want to check all your drivers. Gfx card, sound card any ones that came with your motherboard. MoH:AA had a bad habit of crashing my PC and then deleting the AGP drivers until i fixed it.

or remember that DX 8.1a is UBER-stable. You should find dx 8.1 and use that, from what i've heard DX-9 is not very stable.

Ok, everything's back to normal! Yay! I had to turn DirectDraw and Direct3D up. Now everything runs normaly! Thanks to the people that actually stayed on topic and helped instead of whining about EA.

wasn't so much whining as stating the obvious, *indicates Generals sorry excuse for a single player*

Sorry I got here too late to contribute, but w00t! Glad to hear you got it working.

I'd just like to say that having had personal dealings with several people at EA, I think they're very very likeable. They're a customer of my company, and they sent us a big box of free games as a present - probably over $1000 retail value (sure, it's almost free for them, but it's still a VERY nice gesture).

BF1942 was a bold step forward in its genre, even if it had a few implementation problems (and I've heard that the latest patches fix that up, though I haven't seen for myself yet). Alice was just freaking incredible. Sims isn't my cup of tea, but it is one of the most popular games of all time, so Maxis must be doing something right. And Black and White was, again, a big leap forward, and I enjoyed it for a good long time even though it was buggy as hell. (I have high hopes for B&W 2 to be much less buggy.)

And as I said, the people there are very nice. None of our other game company customers (much as I love them all dearly) have sent us free stuff, offered us all spots as testers, come to our parties, et cetera. So lay off. They're my homies. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Er, to my knowlage EA has shut down all of its owned developers and moved them to 2 studios, one in the Pacific and the other near Las Vagus. I remember when Bullfrog was around (Centerd in Southern England) then suddenly they wernt there turns out EA shut them down.
