    Its far too dark at the moment, you could do with adding a few more lighsources - try using more variation in colours.

    I will try to add some blue lights etc. the room is big (I ducked at some of thouse screens) i intended to make it big so lerks can fly etc.

    tis a nice texturing style, but I still don't like the bending and cutting of near the wall of them lights on the steps. At the moment they just look odd.

    You also might want to look for another ceiling texture. On the other hand it this one does give it something, rest perhaps.

    Cause if you change it to some other texture with details on it it might make the room to busy. Then you're like "WTH ME EYES, TO MUCH TO PROCESS!!! *dies of bleeding eyes*" when walking into the room <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    The lack of geometry is what I intended to highlight the corridor with. Most people do not understand that there needs to be some thin lifeless areas where the aliens have an extensive advantage to counter-act the large open areas which are more suited to the marines within the environment thats being played in.

    Well I understand the concept but maybe it's a bit too understated. Try some fancy lighting to highlight the bits that are cut into the walls and it'll probably look more appealing.

    It doesn't look too dark to me. To be honest i don't like the textures you are using carnage. Yellgrey only works when used very specifically and I have trouble using it too. I don't think the writing you added to the textures look particularly suited either. Also the texture alignment of those tubes is all over the place. I like the spotlights though and the ceiling feature. Maybe try a different texture set.

    its not to dark, its not to bright, its just good looking
    the second picture, maybe you coud do somthing to the white lights?
    beacouse they look bit out of place when everything else is blue

    Classic maps will never be "over". They just take a much longer time to create than combat, I myself am also working on one at the moment. They eat alot of time and it is quite hard to keep working consistently on a larger scale theme, than that seen in a combat map. Even a relatively poor classic map (by most peoples standards) took a lot of thought and effort in to creating, and in my opinion an author who can make a nice looking playable classic map should be given a pat on the back.

    It is also quite worrying how classic maps do seem to have 'phased out'. They just are not getting as much attention these days, and people are opting for the combat map as it requires less time and in alot of cases (but not all) less effort <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

    well, there are fewer people around these days tahn there were before. i too am still working on an ns map. I have been a little distracted by real life these days. so i havent been working on it as much as i had intended to.

    howver in teh interest of getting this back on topic

    is my newly infested hive room. the lighting is a bit better in game but i can seem to get the gimp to reliably reproduce it, likely becasue i tend to take the pictuers after 6 hours of mapping and am too tired to care

    All I've been doing in hammer is creating a hallway then get bored with it onyly to save it as map(insertnumberhere).rfa up to 8 of them at the moment <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Also simply due to the fact I don't have the time to commit to such a big project.

    Thats a very nicely infected room you got there, but this is the hive room? How big is this room compared to the hive, since I can't really seem to get the scale of somehow. Well maybe with the help of the scale of the lonely blue light. Is it something like 1/5th of a marine player model or something?

    ahh, sorry the hive is roughly as tall as the botom half of the room.

    the room form floor to ceiling, not to the bottom of the water is about 450 units

    Youve got some good architecture in there, but the lighting really ruins that. Try and play with some more coloured lighting perhaps.

    its ripe for spawncamping, at least that's the impression i get. maybe add some chunks of infestation on the floor, not too much though so that it doesnt prevent bhop and fading =o

    Bijiy: Its a hive, needs to be darker,darken the yellow&white lights and maybe strengthin the red lights a bit.
