Most Embarissing Game Mishaps

One time when I was comm we had secured the satcom hive and the fusion hive. I had researched lots of stuff and we were doing fine. Suddenly my wireless/optical mouse battery died and so did my keyboard at the same time. THE SAME TIME OMG! The batteries last for like 2 months and they both died at the same time. I didnt know what was going on. I thought it was lag or the game had froze.

The aliens attacked and the team was like COMM U N00B LOG OUT GET OUT AHH GIVE ME AMMO/MED AHH COMM U SUCK!

Then we lost b/c i coudlnt get out of the dang chair and i coudlnt press the voice comm button to tell them what was wrong. My team finaly ejected me but the damage was done. bla

can't remember the map name....

map where there's a room with a hole in the center and a res node to the side (you know what i'm talking about). me along with two other marines secured it. suddenly, a couple skulks find us and all of use start madly hopping around. none of us were killed by the skulks. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

I thik mine was being screamed at to drop the phase as comm - we were just barely holding on to a hive. Trying and shouting in frustration as the icon remained resolutely red. The team was chomped alive. I realised after about 5 mins that I had selected an IP, not a phase. Well the icons look similar, and it was only the second time I'd commed. What made it worse was the marines (all pubbies) were really nice about it (not having told them my mistake) :
"yeah, sometimes I can't drop a phase"....etc.

well i do a good job as comm most times...

but sometimes when i logout then in again i cant get the menus up and the just flicker

and this was at the stage when we were getting faded...

if the onos passed on top of a res node the moment you put it down you can just tell him it's his fault <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'> If you had onos, you'd have been able to do a movement chamber normally, so you could have done that. (or /stuck)

otherwise, davis, get wires for your keyboard/mouse <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'> The keyboard just doesn't need enough moving about to justify being wireless and imo the mouse is the same. Though a wireless mouse is probably more useful than a wireless keyboard. Get an easily rechargeable one <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'> like the mx700 <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

Most of my mishaps are piddling little things like jumping down holes while trying to dodge skulks (which is distressingly frequent).

However, a clanmate was shouting at us all for five minutes after he died and the base went down, because he'd managed to drop a new CC at the last minute in the hive we were trying to take. None of us could see it though, and as more of us died and started to argue with him in spec mode it slowly dawned on him that the sparkly new CC he'd dropped was actually ... a second turret factory.

nothing really embarassing happens when i play.. cept a long time ago i got to gorge. i got all excited and built an offense tower on a res node. lol so stupid. everyone thought i was a n00b, but it was an accident. it happens! i've seen it done a bunch of times.
anyhoo we got some crazy big ole cry babys out there. to make the situation worse, j00 know what i mean?

I build an O chamber on resnodes and then I'm just like .... drat. Sucks especially if it's the first placement of the game and now you guys are really slowed down reswise. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'> But hey, at least they don't know we're *complete* noobs -- At least we had the intentions right, at least we walked over to a res nozzle to put down the O chamber. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

I once went into sat comm as HA about 2 minutes after it had just gone up, I had an HMG and they only had 3 fades, two of which were in the hives and I killed them and the last one after he used a movement to get to the hive, I then took down the hive and started telling the COMM that the hive was clear when all of a sudden a skulk plopped down right on top of me I got so scared that I dropped my mouse and the skulk killed me, I had almost full armor full health and a full lvl 2 HMG clip, I think he bit me about 9 times heh.

I don't know the map names very well, but it was the map with that Drop O' Doom inside the marines spawn point ( think it's the map with vent hive etc). It was ages ago, and now i can't remember if i was Alien or Marine. Either way, i was in the marine spawn and had just killed about 5-6 people and i was happy, so happy in fact i was bouncing around. I never saw how close i got to the edge of that pit.

The roars of laughter from my team over the Voice Comm still haunt me to this day....

Wasn't NS, but CS...

A long time ago before hostage jumping was removed I was playing cs_militia. You know that tall rock/wall next to the sewer exit? Well I was trying to hostage jump up there. I was the only T alive. Everyone was watching me. I <i>finally</i> got up but I didn't take my finger off of the move forward button so I fell to my death on the other side. It was hilarious.

i dont really do anything stupid much, i did recyle tf instead of upgrading it to siege.

i do have great fun telling indiots that i dropped an hmg down the hole in ns_nothing and then watching them go down and try to get it

i tried hovaring without flapping (sorry, it just slipped out) in the pit with a jet pack, but my "elite" fps was not quite high enough. with adrenaline, a lerk can hide down one of those for ever

TFC: I was a spy, the map was No Man's Land. On this map, the bases have resupplies which are able to be entered from outside, with a laser beam across which kills anyone not on the team.

Anyway, I was near the enemy resupply, and I threw a gas gren into it. I got caught in my own gas, forgot that the grenades were hallucinations and dodged a napalm grenade that wasn't there - I dodged right into the laser and died.

As a gorge, I succeeded in trapping a HA inside an oc. I rushed forward to healspray him to death, only to accidentally drop another oc, getting myself stuck. He shot the oc to pieces, then me.

As Commander, yelling at my marines and wondering why they're not responding. Turns out my voicecomm button got unbound. We lost that game because one guy was too stupid begging for a shotgun to build the obs to build a phase gate from base to maintenance, where I had 4 HA's.

I also like giving people a pack of mines when they beg for HMG's. Can't think of my most embarrasing moment, so I'll just pass along a funny one instead, not even about NS:

One time I was playing Urban Terror (q3 mod) and my dad came in and was uncharacteristically intersted in what I was doing. So he convinced me to let him try, so the next round I did. I talked him through selecting his equipment, and even got him to look around with the mouse (no small miracle, considering he refers to MS Word as the typewriter, and treats it as such ala deleting an entire document instead of backspacing). So just when I'm going over weapon switching he experiments with the mouse.

End result is he looks directly at the ground, throws a grenade, and TK's his entire team at round start. heh.

Having key buildings fall through the floor, has happened to me multiple times. Rule of thumb for me is, the more expensive, the higher chance itll fall. Arms labs and prototype labs like to do it to me a lot.
