kind of related but... I like helping new people out; are there any servers I can go to, to help new players learn the ropes. Y'know... in a non-serious environment with the people really just being there to help people learn than WIN!!!
I used to get a giggle out of helping out on MMOs and I kinda miss it =/

Newbies should play on newbie-friendly servers, not pro clanner servers (which the EFTel NS ones pretty much are. Or were, until the influx of newbies :/).
I'll second the call for 2.01 servers, as well as Steam servers. Perhaps this format:
Server name IP as of review (date): xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx Version: 1.xx/2.xx etc. Steam: Yes/No VAC: Yes/No CD: Yes required/Yes suggested/No Gameplay: stars Admins: stars Player Environment: stars Newbie Environment: stars Review: text Overall score: stars Website: if known or any
Something along those lines anyhow. It gives most of the information one could need in one quick easy format. Since having CD on when going to a VAC server could result in a global ban, this stuff would be helpful to know ahead of time. Anyhow at the very least it would be nice to see 2.xx and Steam server reviews... one would guess that almost all the Steam servers are 2.xx. Perhaps [NewbFrndly], [NewFrnd] or something simular to those could be added to the name of the friendlier ones. It should be something the NS server community agrees on to make it easy to filter for Newbie Friendly servers.
Has anyone suggested to have a few Newbie Training servers ?
Having Newbie Friendly servers is good, but it doesn't mean they will have the time to :
1) situation #1 - stop doing anything or do minimal activities - ask a question - get a proper understandable answer - acknowledge understanding or ask other question related to the anwer received - go back to whatever the player was doing
2) situation #2 - ask a bunch of teamates or members from oposit teams to gather up - show them something - ask if there are any questions - continue playing
All of this without having any non-newbies complaining or to the point where the game will suffer.
Those kind of servers should have this stated "We are a training server, therefore training comes first and that means questions and demonstration maybe done to help players whom are very likely all newbies."
I'm no newbie but I've played on servers said to be newbie friendly and there were again complaints because someone asked a question or didn't get a proper answer.
p.s. : off course there is the manual but you know as well as I that not every one sits down reading it before heading into a game (the majority probably played 10 games before even taking a peek at it) !
uh, yeah, our clan has been trying to have newbie nights for a while with very limited success. people just seem to not want to come out? or something.

I have heard a few newbies in-game on Aus servers ask for training, I have sent them to this site and [OldF] Over Medicated server but they get frustrated with this time zone stuff. They say they try, time gets too late and the server is empty every time they look.
Had an idea will start new post for Aussie players to register or post interest, and then we can work the differences out from there.

one thing with dedi paul servers (paul = newb/n00b), is if they don't have the right admins, then they become ownage ground for the pplz that want frags, and don't have skill
mw4, has a few servers like this, and as such i don't play mech warrior 4 online any more
Okay newbie training server. the one I go on for fun teaches you how to do the most annoying and exhausting thing in the game. The Comm Chair, yes it's evil some people love it I hate it, but I need to get time on it so I started looking for servers, that's when I found Trispiral Commtrainer, it's great no admin abuse. The only thing is the aliens are usually bots, which kinda is a downside, yes no one believes their is AI apparently for NS yet but there is. THey have them on there, they are pretty good now and getting steadly harder. Anywho enough babbling here's the stats for the server:
Trispiral|Commtrainer NS V. 2.01 IP Address: 66.226.215.58:27015 Cheating Death: Required Steam: No, and thank god
Server is usually empty till someone gets on, don't let that stop ya the bots join automatically and kick in right away, tho in the begining timing is of the essesence. It can be kinda annoying that they all rush at once but then again for those of you like me, pressure when under fire is a good learning tool.
So yeah thats all and this is my first post on here so i want to say hi now, Hi Everybody!
This is one of the best Natural Selection servers you will play on, great group of people, all the regulars that play on it (including myself) are quite skilled, and A| from CAL also frequients the server (Special K, haxhaxhax lol)

The [oldF] clan has been around the NS community for a long time. This clan is made up of mostly older gamers. They strive for a fun and fairness and love to help out new gamers. Btw, if you are new to the game and are on one of the [OldF] servers, it would be great if you could please add "New to NS" at the end of your name, as per this post.
This isn't meant to ostracize players. Rather, it identifies a person who wants or needs help with NS (as opposed to a person who is simply trying to sabatoge or ruin the game for other players). The advantage? If you identify yourself clearly as "new", you'll find, esp. on [OldF] servers, that people will be more willing to help you out and will generally be more forgiving of any mistakes you might make.
