imo that article didn't reveal enough. We need pictures. They said there was a photagrapher there with them. and who knows, maybe a dozen of those gaurds followed the reporter and camera man around and forced them on a guided tour of the facility, or maybe they were paid a good amount to keep their traps shut. to compare to a recent situation there were Iraqi minders whenever a CNN corespondant was reporting from Bahgdad. I think its sad that parents would feel that they must send their children to facilities like this, but its also sad that there are kids with behavior so bad it merits this kind of treatment.

What is wrong with this picture? <b>EVERYTHING.</b> Does this sound like someone deserving of being dragged away by guards in the middle of the night; does this sound like someone deserving of spending 50 minutes of the hour lying face-down in an empty room? How can an "unsuitable choice of boyfriend" warrant that?
High percentages of adoption. High percentages of divorce/re-marriage. Teenagers showing disrespect for their parents. What about this is so deserving of such a fate? Is that not so normal?
Drug and alcohol abuse, maybe - at least the drug part, but they <i>don't accept addicts who need de-tox</i> - which leaves the logical assumption of your fairly average teenager levels of such occurrences. I've never touched drugs, tobacco, or alcohol myself, but does that mean I don't know countless people who have? One parent interviewed even said that his son had never been in trouble with the police.
If you still can say that all these kids deserve this sort of treatment...

Im assuming you ment to say "It said nothing" If you read the part 2 of the article it talks about both. Also n the first half the auther mentions how the article could not say too much in either way or the head guy would not allow it to be published.
Also you would be surpirsed to know that many <i>large</i> news agencies are in fact biased in one way or the other.

Some people arent worth the oxygen they need to live, such as the parents of these kids.
My sister went through a similar "Uncontrollable teen" stage, arguments every night, constant yelling etc etc.
You know what? She grew up, she got a job, she even moved out for a while until mum got an operation, at which point she moved back in to look after her and help her recover.
Fact being she became a good person without being needed to be sent to a concentration camp.
Personally if I were sent there I'm not sure if I'd be able to survive. I cant stand being ordered to do something or being controlled. I have my freedom and I love it. If I wish to swear, I damn well swear, even if it's in church, why? Becuase I can. If I'm punished with enforced thought, my mind wanders to other things, I almost never think of my actions and the resulting punishment. That being said, I'd probably be called the cooler king in another time or place.
That being said, I'm not sure what they would do with me. Either they would boot me out becuase I was so "unresponsive to the program" or whatever, or they would slowly but surely drive me insane.
Ah well, time to put my imagination to more proactive tasks...
Stuff like this requires... a "rouge" group of snipers and assualt specialists... these people need to be liberated before more of them are permanently damaged...

I think its sad that parents would feel that they must send their children to facilities like this, but its also sad that there are kids with behavior so bad it merits this kind of treatment.

That's all fine and good - except the descriptions of these kids' "offenses" seem no worse than a lot of the run-of-the-mill stuff I saw every day in high school and I see every day in college.

What is wrong with this picture? <b>EVERYTHING.</b> Does this sound like someone deserving of being dragged away by guards in the middle of the night; does this sound like someone deserving of spending 50 minutes of the hour lying face-down in an empty room? How can an "unsuitable choice of boyfriend" warrant that?
High percentages of adoption. High percentages of divorce/re-marriage. Teenagers showing disrespect for their parents. What about this is so deserving of such a fate? Is that not so normal?
Drug and alcohol abuse, maybe - at least the drug part, but they <i>don't accept addicts who need de-tox</i> - which leaves the logical assumption of your fairly average teenager levels of such occurrences. I've never touched drugs, tobacco, or alcohol myself, but does that mean I don't know countless people who have? One parent interviewed even said that his son had never been in trouble with the police.
If you still can say that all these kids deserve this sort of treatment...

I believe if we had this system and it was <b>STATE</b> run then we wouldn't get those ti*****s (Yes I feel strongly about this) spoiling it for people who want to learn. I'm not saying people should be sent to these places because they "Went out with the wrong person" that seems a little extreme. I also believe that everyone should have this available for them.
I would love to see a system where if a child/teen/whatever is constantly being an a** or just not behaving properly the school could just be picked out of a class by the head teacher while saying "Get out my f****** school you've p***** around long enough. The school is sending you to Tranquility Bay" No warning no nothing. I know it sounds very gestapo but we need a system like that. Because face it. agree 100% but it wont be the princiapl that tells them, it would be armed guards, and they would show pictures to other students and that "may" straighten them up that and/or we just get a fireing squad(hey its cheaper)

My sister went through a similar "Uncontrollable teen" stage, arguments every night, constant yelling etc etc.
You know what? She grew up, she got a job, she even moved out for a while until mum got an operation, at which point she moved back in to look after her and help her recover.
Fact being she became a good person without being needed to be sent to a concentration camp.
Personally if I were sent there I'm not sure if I'd be able to survive. I cant stand being ordered to do something or being controlled. I have my freedom and I love it. If I wish to swear, I damn well swear, even if it's in church, why? Becuase I can. If I'm punished with enforced thought, my mind wanders to other things, I almost never think of my actions and the resulting punishment. That being said, I'd probably be called the cooler king in another time or place.
That being said, I'm not sure what they would do with me. Either they would boot me out becuase I was so "unresponsive to the program" or whatever, or they would slowly but surely drive me insane.
Ah well, time to put my imagination to more proactive tasks...
