    Wow... Damn, you put my crazy sketching to shame! I love the marine helmet, I'm not sure why.. It might need a wee bit more saturation (applied using multiply, dark green, 15% opacity with the spray thing?) but it looks great anyhow. It's amazing what things time can accomplish! Great talent.

    Laying down the basic colour over the marine now, not much fun, Hehe, so far it's taken about 3 hours of work or so i think? But i don't like rushing things, quality art takes time i believe [^_^]
    And Deunen, again in response to the PM, i'd love to work on the 'project' <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Thank you

    That is really coming out nicely, you have great coloring skills on the computer ^.^ Deunen did some great sketches, he focused too much on his clan though. If I joined a clan to draw them art it'd be to make us look funny or cute or summin ^.-;

    ***Small update*** Ok, the armour is coming along piece-by-piece and is looking nice IMO, hehe. It'll hopefully be all done in the next day or two i hope, then perhaps chuck a background behind this bad boy, heh

    Wooo yay! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The armor seems to 'point' in the wrong direction. Like the head is 20 cm further up ... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    yeah a slight rotation in a counter clock-wise direction for the armor would be a little better IMO, and i have to say its looking very nice. perhaps if i come up with some sketches or just hard inked peices you would provide some coloring for me? i have a few ideas <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    If you arent doing this already, I suggest taking a screen of an NS background and pasting the figures in it rather than drawing one.

    i agree with using an-ingame background, highlighted mainly behind the marine.
    For the area around the fade, i suggest pitch black. And make the edges of the armour dark near the fade, so his little torch looks as though its lighting them up. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    its awsome... but the only thing that bothers me is that the mouth of the fade and marine are just black, minus tongue and teeth... i dunno just doesnt fit with such realistic coloring <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Hehe, thanks for the input everyone, may be hard now to rotate the armour since its already all coloured in >_< <laughs>

    I'll probably end up doing that <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    i would, only problem is ... i was thinking becuase you can't see the marines right arm coming under the fades claw, what to do there? add in the arm? or....what heh
  • PerfectionsFlawPerfectionsFlaw Join Date: 2003-02-14 Member: 13555Members
    You should leave the bottom of the sketch just as is. I have that problem with wanting to complete every sketch I do. Even if it's just like a doll meant to show position or something. Head types, meh, I eventually add eyes and such ruining the original objective. So.... don't add an arm.
  • Visual_MirageVisual_Mirage Join Date: 2003-05-01 Member: 15973Members
    It just looks so odd though, his arm is coming down, then the fade claw, then a blank area, it just ... makes it look like his arm has been amputated right there. Doesn't seem right i tells ya <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    (On another note ... this thread has hit nearlly 1000 views, i really didn't think it'd catch on that much since it's only a picture) Thanks to all for giving positive feedback.

    I don't know if you saw the post I did somewhere else about this but I basically said I'll print it out and draw in the arm. I think after that is should be a matter of cut and paste then just color it into the picture. Sound good???
    Just try'n to help <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Its so great that people are using their talents (3dmodeling, drawing, animating, ingame video cap.) to make cool NS related arts <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You talking to me or Deunen?
    Personally i think Deuenen should be, he's got talent comin' out the wazoo.
    I just like colouring on the PC and the occasional sketch ... but i did give it thought a few years ago ^_^ haha

    NS is a great inspiration for Art lovers because of all the different types of things you can come up with from it, such as all the Kharaa and the Marines, they can just make the most fantastic pieces of work. I take my hat off to the original creators of the characters. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Heh, yet again, thanks everyone for liking it so much!!! Very grateful.
    But i believe most of the comments should goto Deunen, he's the one who drew it in the first place!! I only brought it to life with colours, hehe <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    hey I'v been looking at that badass pic for awhile and I decided to set it as a desktop but it gets messed up big time, so if someone would be oh so kind as to make it fit a 1024x768 screen resolution i would be very thakful? thanks
  • Visual_MirageVisual_Mirage Join Date: 2003-05-01 Member: 15973Members
    Meh, i was gunna make a background out of it, but the dimensions for it are too awkward to turn it into one, but if anyone else wants to, go for it!
