<div class="IPBDescription">Possible New Dropship?</div> I've been messing around in MS in the last few hours, due to sheer boredom, and not much to model right now, and i came up with this. Yeah, i like that style of wing, too. I found some images on some random site Google threw up, and it had a ship with a similar wing design. Looks very agressive, yet sleek.
I must say i detest the fuselage though, it's horridly hexagonal, i may just rip the wings off and put them on something else, lol. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
well, it IS a dropship ofcourse, what use would it be if it was nice an sleek an slim like a fighter, when you could fit in only 3 marines...

Ahh yes, as said before, Death Gliders, i'd actually never thought about those. O_o I guess there is a similarity with the wingshape, but that wasn't my inspiration. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> The wings originate from a cool picture i saw on a random Google site, the cockpit was inspired by the Fairchild A10 ThunderBolt II, one of my favourite planes, as you can tell by the trademark Vulcan cannon hung under the nose.
I'm almost finished with a new build, just working on the engines. Looks alot nastier now, with some RAH-66 Comanche-eqs missile bays, also weighs in at almost 1,200 polys. :/
Hopefully once i've fixed the engines, that will drop a bit.

Anyone know what sort of poly limits i should set myself for world models like this?

However, map models, EVERYONE has to contend with the same model, which is why I'd do them with minimum-spec machines in mind. My<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=34196&st=0' target='_blank'>Medusa Mk. II</a> for example sits at 434 polies. I wanted to do some interior details, but was stuck with the generic box, otherwise the polycount would eventually kill some users. Not a good idea for a map trying to make it into a future version of NS. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
I sure as heck do. One thing though- the missile racks...does a dropship really need that many?
When Headcrab's Ferrin is released, I'm sure we'll see a few maps starting to trickle out featuring dropship world models...
