This is lookin nice, I wouldn't mind takin a stab at skinning this, just for kicks and giggles, and if I do well, heh, IF.
Anyway, Once you get done with the model and can get a skin mesh, I'd be more than willing <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Ok, an update, i've been working on the UV map for the last 4 hours, and it's about 75% complete (i think). Just curious as to what skinners want? Just a .bmp file? A .bmp with another image file to say what goes where? The entire model? HELP! lol
I rather like that, should look cool in a map somewhere. I assume the cockpit area is inaccessible? ( Obviously, modelling the inside of the cockpit would eat up the poly's, but it could look realy cool. You could use the transparency dll's for the windows. ).
If not, you could use the chrome effect for the windows, make them all shiny, black and cool loking. ( I'm assuming that map models will behave the same as player models regarding the chrome texture effect. Maybe they don't. I know they behave differently in some cases, especially with regards to lighting.)
I don't have much experience incorporating models into maps, I used to try and make everything with world brushes, but I'd imagine a creative mapper could get all kinds of cool lighting effects going on in there.
As long as the dropship doesn't have to move, they could combine it fairly seamlessly with world brushes and lights to make cool effects like illuminated landing lights, that kind of thing. ( rendermode_additive if I remember correctly, produces a neat glowing effect. ) They could also fake a cone of light from the lamps, whatever.
Thin world brushes used to line the interior could make for some nifty texture lighting possibilities as well, far in excess of what you could achieve with a skin.

It's insanely complex, i just don't get it all.
So, what does that mean in dumb modeller terms? I just don't get it. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
In non-mappy terms, it means the mapper can take your dropship and stick "mappy type things" in it. He or she would be able to add glowing lamps to the interior, illuminated computer screens, that sort of thing.
They could also make use of the particle systems, y'know, exhaust smoke drifting out from the engines, that kinda thing.
Any better?
( I started as a noob mapper then kinda drifted over to modelling, so it's a bad habit of mine to assume everyone else knows a bit of mapping as well. )
Ahh, hehe, i get you now. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
So, i've had a few offers from skinners, but none stated exactly what files they want? The mesh is the obvious one, but i've no idea what else, i only started meshing today.

Arson, Just give me whatever you want <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
But, for the sake of statingw hat I'd like, i'd like a .mdl file of it, as well as the skinmesh, that way I can compare what it'll look like on the model. I don't really need to have the skinmesh have things labeled, I can tell by shapes, and if all else fails, trial and error. Probably be best if you just posted the .mdl and then the skinmesh onto the forum directley, so anyone who wants can give it a shot, instead of keeping it to a select group. That way, thigns get done, and others can expand on ideas after seeing what others are doing (mind you I say expand, not copy <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->).
Anyway, I'll look foreward to skinning this thing <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Ok, another few changes, now standing in at 775 polys. I think i've got the smoothing groups almost right, however, there still seems to be some errors, and i don't know what's wrong. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> Screenshot 1/4 <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo--> <img src='http://arson.philez.com/pegasus1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
This is probably the biggest smoothing group error, any insights owuld be helpful. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
