What's So New About The "new Blink?"

<div class="IPBDescription">A quick question</div> Is the new blink totally different from the 1.04 blink? It sounds like the fade winks out of existence, moves to where he wants to go, and reappears. Is this the case?
If so, thats so <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> and cool.

he moves like .. 100% faster, in any dirrection and his image blinks on and off.
I honestly dont know if he can be damaged while doing so, but it seems to me it'd be rather silly if he didnt.
I guess it would take an entire map being made out of special "blinkable" walls and the exterior walls being normal solid walls (so you dont blink in the the abyss of graphical mayhem <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->) for the manuals blink to work :S
And when this happens, can anyone else see the fade or shoot it, and is there just a blue blur like in 1.04?
If you've seen X-2, I'm hoping the fade will just be able to pop in and out of existence and pull some Nightcrawler-type moves.
And does celerity effect the fade when it is blinking?
You click once and you gain a sudden boost in speed, though a single burst isn't very far. When a fade uses it, the model kinda goes transparent and see barely the outline, though its pretty hard to track a fade blinking across room to say the least. In my experience, you still take damage while blinking though nothing big since marines can't track you fast enough.
Same thing.

there ya go... best answer you can get <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
And I hate to nitpick, but being invincible implys that bullets hit you. If you're "not there," they just go through. Slightly different.
I guess the new blink sounds pretty good, a lot more useful then the current one. But does Celerity affect it?
How is fast movement better than instantaneous movement? Bleh I'm gonna miss the old blink.

Actually, I believe that is how it used to work. But there where problems with it. Things like blinking into the marine base, taking a few swipes and blinking out.
I don't know if you're talking about 2.0 or not, but I do that all the time in 1.04.

He means being able to go through walls with it.
IIRC no-clip thru-walls blinking was tried pre 1.0 and was too powerful and buggy.
Fast movement is better than instantaneous movement in this instance because of the level of control you have. 1.04 is limited, you teleport once between 2 points in a straight line. 2.0 blink is a controllable high speed manouver that is far more versatile than the 1.04 version.
You are not invulnerable while blinking, you take damage as normal. Of course you are moving so fast very little will hit you.
For those that want a more in-depth explanation:
Switching to blink and pressing fire gives an immediate burst of speed with high acceleration in the direction you are pointing. You reach maximum speed in a fraction of a second, and keeping the button held down will continue to move you at this speed. The speed is comparable to a leaping celerity skulk, and in previous versions was considerably faster. You can manouver while blinking simply by pointing the blink in a new direction, since the speed bursts also work vertically this allows you to fly through the air, aiming the blink slightly upwards repeatedly to counter the effect of gravity. You can circle a room in mid air for an extended period of time before having to land.
If falling from a height, aiming upwards and tapping blink once will completely cancel out your fall allowing you to land softly.
Nothing in the game is more manouverable than a blinking fade.
The new blink with some careful control will allow you to do this. TBH it's one of the first things I wanna do when 2.0 comes out <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Fading in 2.0 should be much more fun than being the mobile acid turret that they are in 1.04.
Can I just point out that this means the fade can hovar without flapping? Or will I be severely slapped for saying so? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Um, back on topic. The thing I hate most about the 1.04 blink is it only works on FLAT surfaces. And seeing as mapbuilders like to show off with fancy walls, this means mr Fade hardly ever gets to use his blink in 1.04. Poor him.
