<div class="IPBDescription">Courtesy of h'bnayr</div>Here's the latest on NSF:
The general agreement seems to be that NSF will be a guild formed by current NS forum members, in the interests of promoting teamplay, brotherhood and a general good gaming experience. This guild is being created in the spirit of TPF from TFC and the OwP from DoD. (Hehehe... acronyms.) It will not be limited to forum regulars once NS gets going - people who exhibit good qualities will be invited freely, as well as those who inquire and are interested in this kind of guild. Here's H'BNayr's code from the 'helping ns help itself' thread:
--------
"Thus, in putting the [NSF] tag on your name, you agree to the following (Note: this is not an all-inclusive list, and may change at any time, depending on popular opinion. May not be available in all states. Void where prohibited.)
1. I will not reveal my total lack of talent as a player by cheating. This includes aim-bots, wall-hacks, and bug or map exploits. If you suspect someone may be cheating, collect what evidence you can and report them to an admin.
2. I will not act in a rude and disruptive manner. It's naughty, and it ain't no fun to watch. This includes spamming the chat, racist or sexist remarks, or vulgar language. IF I observe such behavior going on, I may comment on it briefly in the hopes that it will stop, but I will not allow myself to be dragged down to their level, not will I ever kill a teammate, no matter the provocation. If I observe such actions occurring, I will first try to search out a server admin. That failing, I may revert back to the tried-and-true voodoo dolls.
3. I will be helpful to newbies. I was once a newbie, and asked many of the same questions, and made several of the same mistakes.
4. I will encourage and strive for team play. I will encourage the use of team tactics. I recognize the not doing to will send me to the sixth concentric cirle of Dante's easy-bake for eternity.
5. I will lead by example. In playing, I represent not only myself, but also the NSF. Playing honorably is the best way to ensure that everyone enjoys their game. Playing dishonorably is a quick trip straight to Heck.
OK, folks, I relaize I ripped pretty much all of these straight out of the OwP, but why fix something that works? I realize some things may need to be added, or changed, but I'm not putting the [NSF] tag on my name until I know that everyone with the tag has agreed to the same set of rules. Makes it feel more...official, or something."

Are we setting up a webpage or anything? It'd be cool to all get together on a server or something.
/me thinks
I dunno if I will wear the NSF tag, seeing how EC (a clan, not a guild) stands for pretty much the same things, I might just wear my clan tag.

I dunno, maybe we could add a new section here.

I thought of the same thing myself. One resolution that I had to how to write my name is [EC.rhoads.NSF]. And although I'm very willing to go along with something like this, I do have to say that I am a member of EC, which is roughly synonymous with being a forum bum. As SentrySteve pointed out, it's almost the same thing as NSF. I'd figure that most of the members of EC would also have NSF tags as well, so why bother? <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--> I'll think about it, though.

Assuming my computer and three different programs don't tick me off i might try something. Be a good bit of practice for some stuff i wanna put on my personel site when i revamp it.
j/k
glad to see everyone liked the idea. ill be sure to wear the tag. ]nsf[Kercho
I'll wear the tag *nod me*. Yeh. I do those things anyway.
Oh and vulgar language...sometimes we all need to vent off steam at cheaters, hackers, blockers, etc. Give us a little leeway with those times. But those who throw a tantrum everytime they die while shoutin and cursin shouldn't be in NSF.
Shall I wear the tag? Of course. I'll have to shorten my name though...Broken Armed Fighting Monkey is simply too big a name. Maybe bafm will work better.
I dunno. But I'll be glad to be a member of NSF. This should alleviate the fears that most people have of NS falling apart due to lack of teamplay.
Never knew there was a team play pact (the OwP is a pact anyway) for TFC, gotta get, more info on that because im a heavy TFC player....
Oh yeah, look out for me as ]NSF[ QUAD
also, i have some P.O.S. website creation skills, maybe i can help a little? /me cringes in corner
dudu you've linked the NS.org homepage wrong.
I will proudly fight with blood and honor for the rules of the NSF pact.
If noone minds I will wear the tag a little different.
[NSF]Sono
btw: I think it is everything good since you have the letters NSF as a tag, not in l33t speak though. But you shouldn't care badly about the format.
***Edit*** I looked up the tutorial that told me how to do linking with frames and it's completly fixed now. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> ***/Edit***
The reason I threw that in too was because the dev team has been trying to keep this mod PG or PG-13 rated. No gore, no dead bodies, that sort of thing. A certain amount of cursing can slide, provided it's PG-13 at the worst. I think I can trust most of you to make that call. Just don't use any language you wouldn't want your little brother/sister/nephew/niece/whatever using/seeing, eh?
And I also wanted to make sure people didn't start yelling at cheaters. They are lame. You aren't. Don't allow yourself to be dragged down to their level. Find an admin, or suggest everyone move to another server. How much fun could they have playing by themself? Also, try to get some demos or screenshots to prove they are cheating. If you can contact the server admin with enough proof, we might be able to blacklist them.
And nice web page, Sgt. X. Short, sweet, and succient. Although, are you going to credit the author? <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
And the final argument seems to be whether to use a clan name AND a guild name. A person can belong to both a clan AND a guild, and because EC did not have any rules posted on the website as of yet (although there may be some in the forums, I grant), I would feel better seeing the [NSF] tag along with the [EC] tag rather than the [EC] tag by itself. I kind of liked Rhoads idea of [EC.rhoads.NSF]. Clan name, name, guild name, all in brackets. But it IS a matter of personal preference, and if you use just [EC] as a tag, I'll probably figure out that you're a team player eventually.
Although, I would like to see some rules posted on the EC website...mainly because I'm anal retentive like that.

lol, a friend I know without ANY skill at making sites could do better than that (in wordpad). Of course he would take around 4 weeks to do it in.... and it wouldn't be spelled half as good.
It's cool to know that you guys are'nt just ignoring me.... *silence*.... is anybody there? hello?... crap they feel asleep again. I really need to make some more interesting posts.
back to being serious. I think it's a great idea and since this MOD focuses on teamwork even more than DoD or any other other MOD I've encountered I think it's a good idea. It makes sure that we will have a good game at least once in a while....
i think i may have to lose the philiac, but as all members of EC are fools that hang around here and irc lots and know each other pretty well anyway ~ surely we can be trusted ;D
