Frankly, I don't CARE if it goes anywhere. It's my favorite online game right now. It is better than any of the competition I have played. It eats up my time faster than I eat up spaghettios. It's one heck of a game, and it will be a long time before it gets stale. I bet a new version will come out long before I get tired of this one. 2.0 is a little imbalanced, but I'm a pubber not a clanner, so I don't feel it that bad. Can it get better? Anything can. Will it get better? Probably
Don't know if it's just me but i feel I'm not gaining anything in NS. I still have my skills and I can't get better at them. I don't want to sound like a cs-wannabe here but almost every mod out there have recoil system, classes and tactics. In NS we only got classes for one team which you got to pay to have.
The clan scene is pretty damn dull sometimes , 2 completly newbies with shotgun could attack me as onos and pretty much OWN me right there.

Im not trying to dramatise online gaming or anything, but when u play at a level like torment's it takes up alot of ur time, unless ur just naturally leet and know every tactic out there.

So, if I understand you correctly, what you're getting at is you're wondering if there will ever be a "pro-league" type of NS where you might actually be able to make a living by playing excellently?
To be honest, I don't know. NS is a team game, and those go over well. But NS is also very fast and with a lot of different action going on at once all over the place. This makes it difficult to broadcast -- which means difficult to get sponsorships and prize money, etc.
For NS to really go pro, I tend to think it needs a couple of things.
1. Longer games. Pubs aside, clan games go by incredibly quickly. The resources come in so quick, and upgrades are so cheap, by the time you've figured out what your strategy is, you better be well into it or your opponents will have already won strategically. 2. Larger teams. This would allow squads or alien groups to survive longer and hence make it easier for the camera to follow a particular group or player. 3. Less complexity. Part of what makes NS so fun to play is that your tactics can be so diverse. Part of what makes it difficult to follow when watching is that the tactics can be so diverse -- you're never sure exactly who to follow. Unfortunately, less complexity probably means less fun to play as well. 4. Tweaks to HLTV to make it more user-friendly and with a quicker response. Maneuvering the map around can be a real pain. It'd also be nice to get a Free Overview on the main screen with a 1st Person on the PIP... currently I don't seem to be able to find anyway to do that.
In other words, I'd bet that until computer gaming is well into the mainstream of being professionaly broadcast don't expect NS to be a money earner. Best get out there and get a real job on the side. :-)

I do think NS gets a bit stale after awhile. I played almost non-stop when it first came out, and once i'd seen all the maps and tried all the classes, and gotten decent at various aspects, I got completely bored.
The games /are/ pretty formulaic (sp?). Every map, without fail, whoever gains the upper hand early on wins the game. If aliens get moving and put up a second hive and cap some res nodes, with a few OCs scattered around to slow the marines down, then usually as long as they don't do anything incredibly stupid, they continue to inch further ahead of the marines until they eventually win. It's the same thing on the flip side. If marines play smart enough to get the upper hand in the early game, then its just a long slow march to HA/shotgun and aliens imminant defeat.
I don't have problems with balance. Marines and aliens are pretty even, though with different styles of play and requirements for a victory.
But the mid/late game in NS is just too predictable to be really gripping. Though that's just in my experience.
Hey J, no need to do the e-shouts with your capital letters at me, I'm just here to have a mature discussion. However, I do believe this newly found attitude of yours does relate to your frustratingly horrible loss to a talented BM team, even if you believe otherwise.

Sorry I do not understand star language, can you please refrain from using profanity? I highly encourage you to speak in a form which would please me most.
its a total coincidence -spelling that this happened after you lose in 2.0 which is so unbalanced according to you. so unbalanced you would say this [ 16:19 ] @J-: i bet i could get everyone in the invite premiership to drop out becoz of 2.0 (about a week ago) yeh your doing well with zero dropouts and only 1 draw out of 5 games, but yes it is very unbalanced.....
and just to back up my point, loosing a game has to be the best thing thats happened to torment so far, people are actually asking us for pcws instead of it being the other way around, weve already had 4 offers

Um... The whole tank post was a lame attempt to hide a suggestion in the wrong board. Ignore the tank.
Honestly, you get this stuff for free. Don't put it down. NS is the game I play when I want to play a FPS game online, and it will be for a long time.
But don't play it all day everyday, or else you WILL get sick of it. And that's bad. Heavy computer usage is best balanced with going outside occsionally.

personally any loss of players from the already small uk ns clan scene is a sad loss, i even miss defcon sometimes (ok maybe not)
How long before people get tired of 4 weapons and 5 types of alien?
knife and welder dont count, u cant kill **** with them except resources towers
