Open it and find out!
Question 1: Is the lvl3 relativley weak while on the ground? Is he slower than the others on foot?

Question 2: When you research the cloak upgrade as an alien does it require energy to remain cloaked or is it free and just turns off when you move?

Weaker? as in health? No, he has the same health everywhere. And his wlking speed is normal for a smaller alien when on the ground.

Currently, no energy is needed, just to be not moving.

well, the lvl3 deffinatly has a huge advantage while hes in the air.

when hes grounded, he loses it and in turn, becomes harder and more frustrating to use.

When you say weaker do you mean more vulnerable? If so, the I guess so, as the lev 3 is a bit harder and more unweildy to use on the ground.

1 more thing, do the levels in NS take the Level 3 into account and have higher roofs then those seen in other mods?

Naw, you can look around and stay cloaked (STC) but any other movement uncloaks you.

That's up to the mappers themselves; Bast and Hera appear to ahve quite few high areas.

Hm... I am looking for a more official word on this one not hearsay and screenshot guesses I shall make a new topic.
• LongtoothLongtooth Join Date: 2002-07-02 Member: 863Members
My other topic was rudely locked, I did not mean is there any room at all what I mean is is there alot of extra room just for flying? Because a level 3 flying in a 10 foot square hallway is kind of pointless and vunerable.
• LongtoothLongtooth Join Date: 2002-07-02 Member: 863Members
Oh....You locked the topic because I had asked the question in 2 threads, I did that because I want getting any official word, only guesses from nonplaytesters, sorry if that bothered you I retract my rude comment I though you had locked it because you thought the question was dumb.

Ok....

Most of these people have seen screenshots from a lot of maps. What people have told you is entirely correct.

Well i think not all the maps should be high i think that if you have a map theat has high cielings then you should take advantage of flying. But then there maps that make u either choose having the disadvantage of being in tight spaces or trying a different strategy.

Most maps contain a variety of areas... some low-ceilinged, some higher. Flying is still helpful even in a hallway, simply because it allows you to move very quickly.
• LongtoothLongtooth Join Date: 2002-07-02 Member: 863Members
How fast does the flyer fly? In comparison to a lvl1 for instance.
• BiomechanoidBiomechanoid Join Date: 2002-02-12 Member: 203Members
dude.... they're not going to tell you much more from official sources, as it's all probably something that their NDA won't let them tell you. that and you may just tick off the admins.

and... bob don't fly. last time I checked he pounced (no idea if this was still in, nor how far it pounces). the flier can fly for as long as he has energy (also, something that I recall reading but can't place where and could be wrong)

This forum exists to ask questions, I doubt anyone will be ticked off. The only thing that ticks them off is calling a lvl1 "bob"

Also I think Long wanted a comparison between lvl1 walking speed and flier flying speed.
• LongtoothLongtooth Join Date: 2002-07-02 Member: 863Members
Thats exactly what I want, how fast does the lvl3 fly in comparison to the lvl1 running speed? And also, I know flying requires energy, but can a lvl3 hover? or is it always gaining altitude while in flight?
• coilcoil Amateur pirate. Professional monkey. All pance. Join Date: 2002-04-12 Member: 424Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
Each time you "jump", you flap your wings. It's possible to hover by timing your flaps. Speed varies depending on a bunch of different things (most importantly, probably timing between flaps), but you can get going pretty damn fast.

Of course, the faster you go, the harder it is to stop... (:

I've managed to kill myself a few times by flying -way- too fast and then hitting a ceiling or angled wall or something that pushes me towards the ground... *SPLAT*

Please note however that this is -very- subject to change. In fact, there's almost a guaranteed chance that -some- part of how the Flyer behaves whilst flying will change before relese. I just thought you guys might want a laugh at my less-than-l33t flying skillz.

So the flyer can take falling damage?
• MoleculorMoleculor Namer-of-Bob Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 9Members
Only if it's stupid enough not to fly to slow down it's speed as it's dropping.

Again, that might change. But I doubt it.

Cartoons never die! Its agaisnt the Geneva Cartoon Convention.
• KidzeldaKidzelda Join Date: 2002-06-25 Member: 819Members
Then anime has violated the convention.

As we all know from history class, the Japanese never recognized the Geneva convention - hence their love of atrocities. So I guess it applies to their cartoons...
