Onos Is Impossible To Hit

An onos has 28 hit boxes. Why can't i hit any of them when i aim low?

    i totally agree... it is damn hard to hit an onos with a grenade.. and must be adressed somehow... i mean.. they are frekin tanks with the hitbox size of a skulk..

    Its hard to find where the hitbox is in that huge sprite.....

    NS does not use the precise models hitboxes like, for example, CS does.
    It uses a different, less complex, system for hit detection excluding headshots and stuff you dont need.
    Therefore you can build 50 structures in one huge map before you get performance problems.

    One problem of this is that the onos hitbox has almost marine size, maybe because a crouching onos hull has marine size.

    Yeah, I beleve there is a great topic somewhere describing where you need to shoot an onos in order to do damage.

    Then again, usally becuase i run in at the rong time, and the 3 grenades go off that where just fired at the door way..

    i'm talking about how grenades explode the instant they hit an alien (thank god for that, i wouldn't have survived many skulk attacks without it) and how if you try and fire anywhere else but the general middle area it won't explode. the only way to use a gren launcher against it is to predict where he wil lgo and fire nades onto the ground in that general area

    the onos visible model is much larger than its clip box-on the x and y axis, but i think its the right height, that means you have to aim for the center mass to hit it.

    the only reason i own skulks with it is because they sit still when then bite me in HA (i try to get into a little crevas so that they are always facing me)

    I hit onos all the time with grenades directly, aim for the part between the two legs on his back and you will get direct hits.

    Aim at the stomach. I know for sure that when he's in devouring range, and you crouch, you hit every shot.

    hmm, that would mean i'd have to wait until it was in devour range, then start pelting him with grenades?

    The onos seems to be treated as a marine as far as collision is concerned...

    I've made a marine with a red skin to replace the onos model so its actually possible to hit the ****!

    hmm, won't that look a tad weird? i mean, an onos is pretty long on all fours. i imagine seeing the red marine skin devouring a marine from like 10 feet away

    When an Onos comes at me with a knife I just Grenade directly below me in order to make a sort of mine. Then jump around in circles until the grenades explode.

    Hitting an onos with a nade (direct hit) is just as hard as hitting a standing marine with one. The hulls are about the same size.

    It is pretty easy to damage an onos indirectly with a nade, since they are (often) slow and get stuck on things like other players. If you can't run, nades will do a number on you.

    You see that tall, super slim hitbox in the middle? yeah, well, thats the only hitbox that actually works.

    yeah, what others said. The actual areas that you can shoot to cause it damage are small and about the size or a marine.

    I'm not so sure.

    Surely a bigger model is worse than a smaller model with the correct hitboxes. The current onos model is effectively 'spiked' due to it's extra size. (This is from the marine POV)
