Why would you use gratefloor on the walls, it's quite obviously a floor texture, and well, sorry, it looks crap.

I dont particularly like this combination, its way to busy.

ESUNA please go look around some of the official maps before you open that big mouth of yours.

Bast has that grate texture on its ceilings and walls, and i think two more official maps use it for a ceiling texture if i remember correctly.

u pick what texture goes where by seeing if it goes well, not because it says its a floor

I mean it LOOKS like a floor texture. Making walls, in the real sense, out of grating would be pretty stupid.

Ontop of that it doesn't actually look good as a wall because of the way it borders itself off at the top and bottom.

I could understand other textures being used in this way, i'm not saying that all textures should be used exactly how they're named, but look at it for christsake.

I don't really like basts texture style but thats just me. I agree with esuna though, there is a place for most textures. On specific parts of the wall maybe but i wouldn't try to pass it off on the whole wall. my 2 cents.

i put the mix wads on floor of a corridor, what u think now?
  • esunaesuna Rock Bottom Join Date: 2003-04-03 Member: 15175Members, Constellation
Yarr, to be honest lad, it looks very much the same as the original be. Personally, i can see little use to bes downloading a .wad of minimally changed textures, arr.

I actually can't say I like this, but it aint bad. If it's used in only special areas it would look good, or if you have BIG supports in those hallways, it could be fantastic!

i personally dont really care for those textures, if it were used like that for a map.. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

keep going though, you might be able to make something look really cool. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Random tiling only works in software mode, and noone plays half-life in software mode so just ignore it.

I'm try make a door way but still with any idea how make, but you can see the first try.
    i have a question:
if the source of the wads are make in *.jpg, the map runing more fast than make with *.bmp source wads?
  • KRaggKRagg Join Date: 2002-11-15 Member: 8832Members
No, the file format you use has no effect on the wad, because when it is saved to wad, it is saved in a special format.

However, you are better off using BMP, TGA, GIF or PNG for wad files since they are exact copies, while JPG removes some stuff you'd normally not see, but it does become apparent when you scale the image.
