JPG are 16777216 colors, but it lose some picture quality because of how it is stored, you generally won't notice it when seing a picture at normal size.
GIF are only 256 colors, but you (or the program) chooses the 256 colors for you. It also stores the image 100% as it was in the editor (except for colors if you used more than 256). However, the format Half-life wads uses internally also use 256 colors and individual color palettes to store the images, so you could say GIF is the closest match as to how it is stored in a wad file.

It's not a big deal, just a few examples of moded textutres.
Not bad. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Keep up the good work. What's really important is the final look of the map, not the textures you use.
I think people probably would have been more impressed if you'd made new textures from scratch, but these are still interesting, even if they were easy to make.
make scratchs is easy only get the decals and put in the walls and: omg! i make this new layout of the hallway and look so great. now in the view u see the 2 ways to walk on map.
i actually like the one entitled "now see the new mix roof" <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

why cant you just cut up brushes in hammer and put them together rather than posting the same screenshot over and over again and saying "remixed version"
edit, ah **** i just noticed it was 2003, not 2004 >_<

everytime someone posts now its just going to get bumped again. I just clicked the link in #nsmapping and posted <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
carioca, you really should work on your english skills. I know its hard sometimes. but think about people that had to learn english but arent skilled enough to understand wghat you are posting.
btw: why are you using the same texture over an over again?take a look at the official ns maps and think about what makes them so exiting.
and maybe you could only maintain ONE thread, would that be possible? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
