    Newb serves no meaning anymore.
    You're a nub.

Yeah, Deu? I used to make multiplayer maps with that thing. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
That was fun as hell too. I made a map called "pearl" where the map physically looked like a string of pearls. It was a bunch of rooms connected to each other with windows looking into the middle. I had a bunch of neat little switches to kill people in rooms on the other side and stuff by squashing them. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Ah, those were the days.

I made a hospital level, it wasn't that good. But whatever....

Anybody remember that "Ledges" series that was very popular for death match?

How does one go about acquiring a working port of Doom, as the game is so old that I don't think stores will sell it.
  • sheena_yanaisheena_yanai Join Date: 2002-12-23 Member: 11426Members
there are still doom collections in the shops ,and you can order it from idsoft...

Marathon is awesome. Especially all the mods, like RED, Rubicon, Evil, and of course the sequels. Try using the mouse and keyboard and then beat it on total carnage or deathwish for RED. I can almost do it.... DAMN YOU DEATHWISH

I don't know quite what world you're coming from, but here on earth DOOM2.WAD is 13MB (although still at the time the biggest game ever). It did come on CD yes, but its main form of distribution was on 5 3.5 high density floppies. I still have mine. In mint condition. In the original box. In mint condition. Along with Ultimate DOOM.

I went and bought the collector's edition thingummy, since before that I didn't actually own a copy of Doom (I literally borrowed a spare copy a friend had. For some reason he had two - two actual boxes of the game with authentic disks in. Go figure <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ). Doom, Doom II, Final Doom, Master Levels, and a bunch of god-awful homemade wads. And I made myself CDs of the game music <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    Good fun <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I want to make a DOOM level that's just like the last one, where it just keeps spawning monsters... But 50 times as fast, with Cyber Demons spawning!

    Hell yeah!

what strikes me as odd... is that at my college, we have a community "pod" free computers, you can install things, do whatever you want (excluding hardware touching/removal) and, it's free....

    drawback : no internet...

so what has come to be installed on this machine?

    Half-Life
    Quake
    Starcraft
    Wolf 3D
    WinSlack
    Word XP
    and...
    <u><b>Doom</b></u>

i played a LAN game of TFC today... aparently, they also updated to hl 1.1.1.0....

GG 15 fps.... gotta love school computers.

I lost my Doom floppy disks also.... WAIT! I think I know where they are!
When I get hom I am going to go find them!
I want to get a ring like the one the guy had!

Doom was the best Game for years, and years! I remember playing commander keen and thinking it was a **** rip-off of Doom!
I didn't get back into FPS gaming until Quake came out!
