Its Official, Counter-strike: Cz Is Vaporware

Another developer switch *yawn*
http://bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?acti...&threadid=44726
Watch for a cancellation in a few weeks, once the suits at Vivendi realize that HL2 will be coming out at the same time as CZ and Valve realizes that it could just port all of CZ's assets over to HL2 with no problem and a better engine. Assuming its as easy to port stuff as they have been saying all this time

Pwned.
Same here. CS... great.
Why does the wording of this post make me think that the only reason you posted it was to post that big useless "No" picture?
LMAO
but in alot of ways that reflects general CS gameplay, try to get as many headshots as possible...
You also get to do the round THREE times! Just in case you didn't enjoy it the first time! I guess that will make up for the complete lack of an expanded mission mode with about 20 odd maps, hey?
"Nah, we'll just have 5 and we'll get them to do it a few times!"
"CUNNING!"
"LET'S SEE WHAT ARSE WE CAN PRODUCE IN HAMMER!"

Headshots are random in counterstrike.
I aim for the guy's lower torso and it hits him in the head. O_o
I knew the gameplay would suck from the 1st second I heard suicide belts might get put in (which was a long time ago, I havent read up on CZ since then). Why can't they improve the HL engine for a GOOD mod?
This all started with those damned Akimbo Pistols, was all downhill from there...
dont diss teh duelies...
If I wanted that, I'd just go on one of those stupid 24/7 fy map servers. You know, the ones they set up because the concept of "planting the bomb" takes away from the gameplay. I shouldn't really badmouth the fy maps. They do provide a change of pace from the dust/dust2/aztec rotation.
Nor did PC Zone. But to be fair, as someone told me in another thread, the build they would have recieved for reviewing isn't the final one, and rumours are there have been changes.
And as for Turtle Rock being a "no-name developer", the dev's are "comprised of four former Westwood/EA Pacific employees". They've got a reputable background, that's good enough for me.
Take Lionhead studios when they started making their first game (Black & White, wasn't it?), they were essentially "no-name developers", but they had backgrounds in Bullfrog. Take Ion Storm too, we all know where they came from...

What the....
Does this mean that you'll score points for "classy" kills? Jump off that crate, onto the CT's head, fall behind him, knife him once in the back then steal his sheild?
Not that CS:CZ is something I'm waiting for with baited breath

Everyone is quick to point out Ion Storm... but easily forgets their 'darker half'. Who produced the most reviled game in history, even past the 'Barney and pals' series. That's right. DAIKATANA.

Anyway, the new crap looks extraordinarily dull. My bet is Valve just got tired of the whole fiasco and decided to make something very very quick (using already made 32-bit art and engine modifications) to do a cheap simple gameplay modification and make a quick buck from dumb people.
In the game there'll be 2 main single-player modes, the tier mode like in Unreal Tournament where you work your way through the maps, spending points to purchase teammates etc., and something called "Deleted Scenes", which is 12 of the best missions Ritual made, the rest were discarded.
Ritual must be gutted that their work is being under-praised and silenced in such a manner, "Deleted Scenes" semantically speaks negative volumes, but nowadays you can't create a totally linear, rigidly scripted experience and expect to wow the gaming world, even if you have the legendary talents of Levelord et al.

To be honest,i remember Ion Storm for their crapper games, not for the times they actually were a success (IE, not Deus Ex).
Remember Dominion: Storm Over Gift?
One succeess they did kinda have which was totally underrated was Anachronox. That game had me hooked for weeks.
CS:CZ is the product of the work of Ritual, Turtle Rock and Valve
Ritual did Single Player missions WHICH ARE STILL IN although there are only 12 of the 20 Ritual made
Turtle Rock did the (apparently human-like) bots and the challenge mode.
Valve are just there...
