Penny Arcade comics really don't seem funny to me, nor do they seem to get things right. Take the comic shown in this thread, dealing with StarCraft. Anyone with half a brain can understand what a publisher is. Why do these guys have trouble understanding it? Game publishers fund a gaming design company to make a game for them. The gaming design company could not make it entirely by themselves - they need funding to do so. The gaming company could not manufacture the CDs, or distribute them like the publisher can. So why does Penny Arcade have to be deliberately thickheaded to be 'funny'? To me, Penny Arcade's staff aren't very intelligent, as they can't seem to understand a situation.
Let's look at Underworld. They critiqued the lawsuit because they thought it was an attack on the use of vampires in Underworld. Wrong. As it was established here, it was an attack on the use of certain copywritten storyline elements, not vampires or werewolves. Do you know how we figured this out? We read the lawsuit. The same lawsuit Penny Arcade read, yet didn't understand.
See, Penny Arcade misleads. I have problems with the viewers of Penny Arcade as much as the staff itself. They don't read the source that Penny Arcade got its information, but rather view the comic and take it for its word. If you don't believe me, check out the Underworld topic in this forum. You'll see what I mean.
It's my opinion, yes. But it counts for something, since everyone seems to consider the opinions of Penny Arcade staff members so highly.
I guess I'm not the only one who had no actual interest in CZ, especially after HL2's announcement. It just didn't appeal to me- but then again, neither does the original.
As for Penny Arcade (and now I hate myself for standing into the forbidden zone of off-topic... in off-topic!!) they're definitely hit and miss. They're full of inside gamer/nerd jokes- unfortunately, I get every one of them. It doesn't bode well for my social standing. If I had any. As for Underworld, that was certainly satire. Had you read the accompanying newspost, you'd have seen that they recognised the real purpose of the lawsuit. Of course, here's to be both interesting and hypocritical;

Anywho, I'm not a big fan of having to read newspost after newspost to get what a comic is about. I want the comic to be funny in and of itself. PVP Online succeeds. Penny-Arcade doesn't.

On topic: It amazes me that Valve has the power to do this. They just throw what they don't like out the window and start again.
