I agree. King George and his Yankees are ruining baseball. The problem with all of this though can be summed up in two words: Bud Selig. Until he is gone, baseball will be a shadow of its former self...
The entitlement that Steinbrenner has led New Yorkers to feel is staggering-- as I was talking to my sister (a Yankee fan now, via her husband) today, she brought up the point that she didn't feel terribly for the Red Sox fans because her son hasn't gotten to see the Yankees win the World Series yet.
HER SON IS TWO.
I reminded her that her sixty year old Red Sox loving father hasn't gotten to see his team win the world series yet, and that cleared the perspective up a bit for her.
Cripes. The Yankee's salary is double the Cubs, AFTER the luxury tax is applied... what a joke. And if you take away Sammy Sosa, the Cub's salary is in the bottom 9 of 30...
Steinbrenner and Selig, the unholy marriage of idiocy and cash.
