The addendum to the forum rules displays a lot of epistemological confusion. "Science vs. religion" debates have never occured on this forum. That would involve touching the metaphysical question how we can gain access to truth.
Apparently the addendum assumes that a "creationism vs. evolutionism" debate involves conflicting epistemological premises among the adversaries. That is incorrect; creationism is a science because it accepts the scientific method. Sloppy science, but science nonetheless.
The confusion is further enhanced by MonsE's commentary on this thread, which conveys the feeling that theological debates in general are unwelcome on this forum, whereas the official rule addendum seems to deliver a different message, although I'm not sure what this message is.
My current interpretation is that the rules now outlaw specifically the mentioning or defending of creationism; however, theistic positions may still be held in ethical discussions, and theological threads may be started.
